Help Dental Care?

I have looked around the web for info related to my question and can find nothing. My questions are: What is teeth cleaning and what is teeth whitening? What is the process of each one? Detail info would be greatly appreciated. I do not have good teeth because I do not visit the dentist very often due to health care cost. Thanks

Help Dental Care?
Whitening: You can do it at home:

Whitening is a treatment that "bleaches" your teeth. It is done with toothpaste or/and whitening strips. ( depending on how yellow your teeth are )

The paste and the strips contain sodium fluoride . You Can also achieve a certain level of bleaching by applying baking soda to the tooth brush ( with or without toothpaste) and brush as normal. This should not be done more than 3 times a week because it takes some of your calcium from your teeth.

Cleaning: Dentist

Cleaning is a process that should be done twice a year . Usually done by dental hygienists , they go deep into your gums around each teeth to bring out sediments built up inside your gums. Flossing is part of cleaning. The deeper the gum pocket become ( from lack of flossing, the sediments dig into your gums) the easier it is for a person to loose her/his teeth when older because the roots don't have much gum to grab on to.

Dentists go by numbers( I believe they represent ml) , low is good , and from 5-7 is not. Again, according to my dentist flossing helps prevent this , but it is not a substitute for cleaning. Cleaning is done in two sessions, upper gums one day , and lower another ( they use Anestassia and gums are very sensitive for 2 days after it is done)

YOU CAN SCHEDULE IT AS YOU LIKE . I did upper one monday and lower the next monday.

I hope it's what you were looking for.

Reply:Cleaning is twice a year, a a basic dental check up to get the spots you cannot get by just brushing, check for cavaties and check on gums. Your dentist may even do x-rays of your teeth. This process does not lighten your teeth.

Teeth whitening is a process that may include bleaching and/or a high beam light. This is costly. For xample, the ZOOM whitening system is $500!
Reply:dental cleaning is just when the dentist uses some tool to sort of scrap of all the dirty stuff on ur teeth but it doesnt make them white... obviously teeth whitening is the actually bleaching of the teeth and then they are white and it takes about an hour. i used to think they were like the same but they're not and yea my teeth arent the greatest either for the same reason but try to get insurance and go get those teeth cleaned cuz until recently when i started going again after quite some time i didnt know how precious teeth really are.. i already had 4 fillings in my teeth cuz of cavities and i have 3 more to be filled. its not that i dont brush which i do its just that its not always enough so definitely go to the dentist its so important and good luck.
Reply:Many of the foods you eat cause the bacteria in your mouth to produce acids. Sugared foods, such as candy and cookies, are not the only culprits. Starches, such as bread, crackers, and cereal, also cause acids to form. If you snack often, you could be having acid attacks all day long. After many acid attacks, your teeth may decay.

Plaque also produces substances that irritate the gums, making them red, tender or bleed easily. After a while, gums may pull away from the teeth. Pockets form and fill with more bacteria and pus. If the gums are not treated, the bone around the teeth can be destroyed. The teeth may become loose or have to be removed. In fact, periodontal (gum) disease is a main cause of tooth loss in adults.

One way to prevent tooth decay and periodontal (gum) disease is by eating a balanced diet and limiting the number of between-meal snacks. If you need a snack, choose nutritious foods such as raw vegetables, plain yogurt, cheese or a piece of fruit.

What are some tips for daily oral care?

The best way to remove decay-causing plaque is by brushing and cleaning between your teeth every day. Brushing removes plaque from the tooth surfaces.

Brush your teeth twice a day, with a soft-bristled brush. The size and shape of your brush should fit your mouth, allowing you to reach all areas easily. Use a toothpaste that contains fluoride, which helps protect your teeth from decay. When choosing any dental product, look for the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance, an important symbol of a dental product's safety and effectiveness.

Cleaning between the teeth once a day with floss or interdental cleaners removes plaque from between the teeth, areas where the toothbrush can't reach. It is essential in preventing periodontal (gum) disease.

By taking care of your teeth, eating a balanced diet and visiting your dentist regularly, you can have healthy teeth and an attractive smile your entire life. Follow these tips to keep your teeth and mouth clean:

How do I brush my teeth?

Place your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle against the gums.

Move the brush back and forth gently in short (tooth-wide) strokes.

Brush the outer tooth surfaces, the inner tooth surfaces, and the chewing surfaces of the teeth.

Use the "toe" of the brush to clean the inside surfaces of the front teeth, using a gentle up-and-down stroke.

Brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.

How do I floss my teeth?

Break off about 18 inches of floss and wind most of it around one of your middle fingers. Wind the remaining floss around the same finger of the opposite hand. This finger will take up the floss as it becomes dirty. Hold the floss tightly between your thumbs and forefingers.

Guide the floss between your teeth using a gentle rubbing motion. Never snap the floss into the gums.

When the floss reaches the gum line, curve it into a C shape against one tooth. Gently slide it into the space between the gum and the tooth.

Hold the floss tightly against the tooth. Gently rub the side of the tooth, moving the floss away from the gum with up and down motions.

Repeat this method on the rest of your teeth.

Don't forget the back side of your last tooth.

Watch the brushing and flossing animation to learn more.

People who have difficulty handling dental floss may prefer to use another kind of interdental cleaner. These aids include special brushes, picks or sticks. If you use interdental cleaners, ask your dentist about how to use them properly, to avoid injuring your gums.

Whitening:

Everybody loves a bright white smile, and there are a variety of products and procedures available to help you improve the look of yours.

Many people are satisfied with the sparkle they get from brushing twice daily with a fluoride-containing toothpaste, cleaning between their teeth once a day and the regular cleanings at your dentist’s office. If you decide you would like to go beyond this to make your smile look brighter, you should investigate all of your options.

You can take several approaches to whiten your smile:

In-office bleaching;

At-home bleaching;

Whitening toothpastes
Reply:Teeth cleaning is removing the plaque that builds up naturally. You go every 4 to six months for this, and we all should go. It is not so expensive, and YOU should go, because you will get cavities if you don't, and your gums will get diseased, which leads to loss of teeth.

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure done by wealthy conceited people who have more money than brains.
