Affordable dental care?

I broke a tooth in the front, its pretty much gone. anyone know any affordable place in Toledo ohio to get fixed. Its going to need pulled, whats left, and a fake one put in. I have very little money and no credit.

Affordable dental care?
If it's that far gone, and you need to have it extracted, you can have a flipper made to replace it.

It's similar to a denture, but less expensive, and will fill the space left from the extracted tooth.

I'd definitely suggest calling dental offices in reference to payment plans... be up front with them... hopefully someone will be willing to work with you.

Best of luck~
Reply:If there is a University with a dental school go there. A dental student will do the work for you at a reduced rate.
Reply:You can try a dental college or your local health department.

You might also check local dentist to see if they are willing to work out a payment plan.
Reply:try going to a dental college. or go to a dental office and ask about their payment plans. you can also check out the CARE CREDIT websote. I didn't have insurance and I neede some money to take care of my dental fees. they offer interest free payments for up to 18 mos, no hidden fees.

Do costs for dental care go higher or lower with time? Inflation driven?

I'm asking specifically of orthodontics.. because I want to wait till next year to get braces and my orthodontist gave me a quote for now and said it can change at anytime..

Do costs for dental care go higher or lower with time? Inflation driven?
prices dealing with any dentist change all the time you could go to one place and they will quote than somewhere else and they could charge a diffrent price it is hard but i hope you find someone who isnt just after your money..

Dental care: to those who are not going regularly or at all to the dentist. what are your reasons?

Money and the fact that my last dentist had a habit of just waiting for a cavity to form instead of telling me which area of my mouth I was not brushing enough.(I found this out one time when he neglected to close the door when he was dictating notes for my file)

Dental care: to those who are not going regularly or at all to the dentist. what are your reasons?
Money!

2. cavities are scary, embarassing

3. good brushing is just as good

4. cant afford sedation dentistry

those are all my own personal reasons
Reply:Cost.
Reply:i never went to a dentist not even once untill i was 12 cuz my parents couldnt afford it but now we have more mony so if i need to go i can ( =
Reply:Hey...it's the dentist!!! Enough said. LOL
Reply:money, pain, and i am afraid the dentist will criticize EVERYTHING in my mouth.. teeth too crooked, too many cavities, not flossing enough, not brushing enough,,,etc
Reply:Dentist costs are excessive, I'd also ask WHY IN THE WORLD dentistry is overrated
Reply:i do not go to the dentist as i cannont find 1 that takes on nhs paitients, also i did find 1 dentist who took on nhs patients, but not if ur on incapcity benift.
Reply:It is a huge phobia of mine! I had a dentist as a child in TN, his name was..... you ready for this? Dr. Butcher! Honestly! His name fit. I'm 24 and cry just thinking about making an appointment!
Reply:they want to remove part of my jaw to get my wisdom teeth out and thats sounds very crappy to me. i love getting my teeth cleaned by the dentist tho... its soooo nice feeling!!

Dental care for infants?...?

My son is 2 months, should I be wiping/brushing his gums right now?

Dental care for infants?...?
YES...FOR SURE U DEF. WANT TO JUST GET HIM USED TO THE WHOLE IDEA. AND YOU ARE HELPING TO STIMULATE THE GUMS AND KEEP THEM HEALTHY. JUST USE A WARM RAG AND BE GENTLE. MY SON JUST GOT HIS 2 BOTTOM IN AND I STARTED AROUND 2 MONTHS ALSO WITH THE WIPING AND NOW HE TOTALLY KNOWS WHAT WE ARE DOING AND HE IS USE TO IT SO HE DOESNT FIGHT IT....GOOD LUCK..AND OH DONT USE ANY OF THE PASTE YET. JUST WATER.
Reply:you can if you want but don't stress too much. But as soon as those teethe start coming in you need to get a baby tooth brush
Reply:Baby books would tell you yes, and others know.

You are more likely to give your baby something from brushing his gums than you are to prevent anything.

When he graduates to solid food, the kind you have to chew, it is time to strat thinking about oral care.

Other wise you need only worry if he has really bad breath. In which case a bit of mint jelly will go a really long ways.
Reply:You should start cleaning your baby's teeth and gums when the first tooth appears. You can use a soft, lint-free cloth or a baby toothbrush. Clean the teeth morning and night to get into a good dental hygiene routine.

The use of toothpaste is not recommended for children under 2 years.

Dental care, Please help with this health concern.?

My father is 76 years old. He can not enjoy his food to the fullest effect becaus he has no teeth. My father loves to cook and eat. My father claims that he was on Medicare part b, but they were billing him to high and deducting to much from his social security. Sometimes its confusing talking to him, because of no teeth. I looking for cheap dentures, or where can I go to buy inexpensive dentures for my father. Thank you for all your help ;).

Dental care, Please help with this health concern.?
Affordable Dentures

This is Who I`m going with %26amp; The Cheapest by Far

http://www.affordabledentures.com/
Reply:Cheap dentures won't help him at all because they will probably hurt him. My grandmother, who is 74, got cheap dentures because she didn't want to spend the money and ended up having more problem than when she had no teeth at all. Her gums hurt when she has them on and she almost never wears them. If you have the money, invest in a good set of dentures becuase there is no messing with this kind of thing.
Reply:Are you close to Mexico? If so, items there are cheap. Get a prescription (if one is needed for dentures) and go there and get some. If not, consider going to Mexico for a brief trip. It's worth it for some things that are more expensive in the U.S. I used to live on the AZ/Mexico border and saw how cheap things were in Mexico. But if you need a prescription for this, be sure to have one as you can't get things nowadays w/o one. Good luck!
Reply:wow i didnt relize you could get a prescription for these things, i thought they were fitted for you and the only way to get them is countless visits to your dentist, i guess i learn something new everyday i know i didnt answer your question, sorry hope things work out for your dad
Reply:Unfortunately dentures are a long, painful, and slightly expensive ordeal. First try looking for a community dental clinic if available in your area and find out if they provide that type of service. It will be way cheaper, and since you dad is on Medicare, I'm gonna guess he might qualify for that sort of thing. Medicare might not fully cover it, but it'll cost less compared to private clinics.

Hope this helps.

Dental Care for clients with Mumps?

I'm just wondering what the treatment would be for clients suffering from mumps. Would we send them home if they've already been diagnosed? If they haven't been diagnosed then would we refer them to their doctor?

Dental Care for clients with Mumps?
I doubt anyone with mumps would even consider having dental treatment... and they'd cancel their appointment.

Are you sure you're just not seeing patients with acute swelling and they need their dental appointment?

(?)
Reply:I would imagine that any dental treatment would be uncomfortable. Causing salivation causes pain. If they have not been diagnosed, send them to their doctor. Mumps is so rare right now, due to vaccinations. It is highly contagious to anyone with no or little immunity. Sometimes, people will get infections in their parotid duct and back into the gland due to chronic dehydration and/or medications that dry out the mouth. Usually in that case, the dentist should treat it by advising more water and by "milking" the parotid gland. That gets things floeing again.

Dental care and pregnancy?

I'm about 20 weeks along now---i have the most HORRID tooth pain---after EVERY TIME I EAT---I have to brush after every meal--or else the pain will continue---my bottom wisdom teeth are trying to push through--and I know I cannot have oral surgery until after i deliver--is there any thing I can do to manage the pain---this is even when I drink Juice--this tooth pain is terrible....I don't want to take tylenol every day either--I am not comfortable taking medication while pregnant---but this is interfering with my job---because after breakfast and lunch--I feel horrible....

Dental care and pregnancy?
Leaving it alone can be harmful to your baby, and yourself. You could get infected and die, and/or give the infection to your baby and he/she dies. There are also some modest correlations with maternal infection during pregnancy and schizophrenia later in life for the infant.

If you have not told your doctor, tell him/her immediately.

Edit: In response to your further inquiry.

Yes, you will die if you do not take antibiotics to treat a tooth infection. The infection will spread to your brain and I am sure you have an idea of the rest.
Reply:you may need to go see your dentist and maybe they will have some ideas for you without taking medication good luck to you
Reply:Go To Your Dentist... They Might Be Able To Do Something... I Had A Cleaning And A Filling Done And My Dentist Said You Can Go A Lot Of dental Work While Pregnant, Just Nothing That Will leave You Laying Down For A Long Time, Like A Root Canal...

You Might Just Need A Good Cleaning Though, That's What Happened To Me!! Once I Got My Teeth Cleaned The Pain Went Away!!
Reply:keep chewing cloves whenever u have toothache, try to keep the cloves below the toot h which is aching, pain will subside and vanish in a few days
Reply:If you have infected tooth, then that's going to do more harm to you and your baby than letting it go. An infected too can also lead to preeclampsia, or so many doctors and dentists will tell you.

Call your OB/GYN and ask her for some advice. Next, make an appointment with a dentist.

You're going to need to take Tylenol--it's perfectly safe. If you don't take Tylenol, you're going to feel even worse and let it go to a point where all you do is get sick from so much pain. Also try to use some hot/cold compresses.
Reply:Contact a dentist, and make sure they know you're pregnant. Even if you can't have oral surgery, other pain management options may be available. Use mouthwash to kill germs and minimize infection risk. It helps me with my tooth/gum pain.

It's important to have good oral health in pregnancy to minimize your risk for having a pre-term birth.

Try drinking nutritional supplement drinks, to help boost your diet.
Reply:I might be just a little paranoid when it comes to tooth pain because a guy who worked with my mom died from a tooth infection. Talk to your dentist and find out what all your options are.
Reply:Try chewing cloves chewing gum.......But check with your OB first.

Switch toothpaste......Get sensodyne or some other brand designed for sensitive teeth %26amp; just try to stay away from cold drinks %26amp; food.
Reply:Oh man....I feel for you.Tooth pain is the worst. Have you asked your doctor about a safe pain reliever you can take? I know you mentioned not wanting to take anything but with your tooth pain as severe as it sounds, you might have too. That or tough it out. Sorry.
Reply:dental care is important for a healthy pregnancy. I know it may seem funny or odd but if you have oral health problems it can actually cause problems with your pregnancy.

You are urgred to continue routine dental visits and to go to the dentist if you have problems even if you are pregnant.

Dentists deal with pregnant woman all the time, they can give you something to help and maybe even do something to allevate the pain; even though you are pregnant. Good Luck!
Reply:i would say call the dentist and make a app. after you hit the second trimester it is safe and i asked my ob/gyn when i was pregnant that is how i know just call your doctor and ask. but for now i would take some tylenol for the pain.
Reply:Have you talked to your dentist and your doctor about this?

While surgery is not something you would want to elect to do during pregnancy, it can be safely done when it's necessary. (I was completely sedated for a needed kidney stone removal at 29 weeks - and everything is fine).

At the same time, if there's room for those wisdom teeth to come in, and this is just a matter of getting through teething pain, then yes, you can be given some prescription strength pain-killers. Percocet, for example, is made out of the same base ingredient as Tylenol (it's just 10 times stronger).

good luck

Dental care available to Chicago ?

Case by case expenses or is there an equivalent in medical plans per se ?

Salient points to watch out for ?

Dental care available to Chicago ?
Generally people can't afford dental insurance. Under state insurance, many children can get dental insurance. Our school has mobile dentists come in twice a year because we have a lot of students living in poverty.

I could join a dental plan but I chose not to. After paying for my daughter's braces, our dental needs are minor.

I do recommend Dr. Kent Kopinski. He is wonderful!

We have a wonderful dentist that came in on a Sunday of 4th of July weekend to look at my daughter's teeth because she had a bike accident when she was 7. He didn't even charge us. He said we would be paying enough later. She had two sets of braces to correct her teeth after that and we paid a small fortune to the orthodontist. We were thinking about getting dental insurance when she was a teenager, never expecting braces at age 7. And insurances don't cover pre-exisiting conditions so after that it wasn't worth it to get dental insurance.

Only half the teachers I know get dental insurance, the other half can't afford the payments.
Reply:my suggestion is to use yahoo local... type in dentists then in the next space type in where you are looking for the dentist... good luck!!! hope it all works out 4 u

Dental care - how do you do it?

I floss,brush and then rinse with mouthwash (2 or 3 times a day) --- what's your method ?

Dental care - how do you do it?
sounds like you have a good program going on- just add i see my hygienist twice a year and it'd be perfect
Reply:same stuff as most ppl.
Reply:you schould brush then floss then rinse at least three times a day best after meals
Reply:same way as yours
Reply:I brush my teeth five times a day. I floss and brush teeth, inner cheeks and tongue in the morning, after breakfast, after lunch, after dinner, and at bedtime.
Reply:My dentist told me that if you use a hard or medium brush it slowly carves horizontal lines in your teeth, so use soft. I dont brush as much as you and my teeth are kinda bad. yours should be perfect
Reply:Brush at least twice daily, floss daily and scrub your tongue. Mouthwash is not neccessary and in some cases can actually cause staining. Be careful which one you use.

Doggie dental care?

My dogs have always had really good teeth (even the vet thinks so) just from chewing on toys. I noticed that the dog that we recently adopted (like 4 or 5 weeks ago) has not so white teeth in back. I'm thinking that this is something that has happened recently because when we took him into the vet, she commented on how good his teeth looked. So if chews aren't working on keeping his teeth clean, then I was planning on brushing his teeth, but I've never had to do this before. Any advice as to how to go about it. He's pretty laid back, but doesn't really like grooming (like being brushed or getting his nails clipped). Also, whats a good way to help him like (at least tolerate with out trying to run away) being brushed? Heres a picture of him!

Doggie dental care?
What a cutie!

I brush my dog's teeth once a week since she was a year old. It was definitely a process at first. I introduced her to the toothbrush and toothpaste first. I let her lick some off of my finger a couple times and then I let her lick it off the brush. After about a week of doing this everyday, she wasnt unsure about the toothbrush anymore, and it was easier to get the job done. She still dislikes it to this day, but she tolerates it. I have two kinds of toothbrush. I have a long one with bristles of different sizes on both ends (great for the back teeth). Then I have a thimble brush with bristles on it that works great for the front teeth. Hope it helps and good luck!
Reply:First of all, if the dogs teeth in front are looking good and the back ones aren't black, he's doing great. Second, put the toothpaste on a rubber toy and get him to play with it. Try to get him to play tug-of-war with it. That'll help.
Reply:While brushing him, talk softly and pet him at the same time. He will eventually get used to it and look at it as a rewarding thing. Who knows what he went through with his past. I might try obiedience classes just get help him out even if he is laid back. His teeth, I would call a vet and ask about that, he probubly isn't going to like that so until you get advice from a vet. i'd get some tartar control chew snacks.
Reply:There's a product called Plaque Off, it's main ingredient is ground up seaweed. My dog just won't let me brush his teeth, good enough anyway. He had an almost rotten tooth and using the plaque off saved his tooth and his breath is a million times better! You just sprinkle a scoop over his food (1 scoop per 1cup of food) and they eat it up. It costs around $22 for a 6 month supply. I buy mine at Airedale Antics in St. Louis, but you can also buy online at airedaleantics.com. They have tons of great products. I only shop there for my dogs.
Reply:You dont have to brush, just feed an all natural diet of raw meat, raw bones and raw organs. Raw bones are natures toothbrushes , they are cheap, safe and the single most effective and natural way to keep teeth clean.

Also..something I bet you didnt know.. the distemper vaccine can cause teeth discoloration! its just one of too numerous to list symptoms of vaccinosis.

Please check these links, and feel free to email me with any questions.
Reply:First I'd like to say I pay Petsmart's Banfield hospital $30 a month and I get one free dental cleaning where they put the pup to sleep and really get in there good, one free blood workup, all free vaccines, all free office visits, free uninalysis, etc. plus 15% off everything else, including meds. I highly recommend this.

Second, about brushing the pups teeth, I brush my dogs teeth, she loves the toothbrush, not so much the brushing part though. I usually let her lick the toothpaste, she actually likes the toothpaste too, then I let her lick the wet toothbrush for a little bit before I start brushing. When I brush her teeth first I just try and make it a game and get what I can, then I usually have to hold her jaw open and finish, but at least it doesn't take as long to finish since part of it gets done with us "playing" around. She'll get used to it.
Reply:They make beef and chicken flavored dog toothpastes, just look for them in the dog isle of your local PetSmart store (I know that they have them for sure because I used to brush the teeth of a Miniature Poodle I used to have) and they also sell dog tooth brushes that you can use to brush his teeth.

Is there any where i can go in the dallas fort worth metroplex that offers low cost or free dental care.?
Contact Baylor's dental training center, they have a program for students who are in their last year of dentistry study which includes low cost/free dental services supervised by the professor. You should be able to just contact the school and ask for the dental services information.

How should I approach a dentist to barter my marketing skills in exchange for dental care?

I don't have dental coverage, my business is marketing and my smile is a mess.

How should I approach a dentist to barter my marketing skills in exchange for dental care?
In order to barter the value of your services should be equal or close to the dentist. So first look for a dentist offering free exams and x-rays, cleanings for new patients this is approx value of $200 savings and a great way for you to introduce yourself and become familiar with your new dentist and customer. Now back to the marketing part obvisously if you have the coupon for free services he is marketing but your referrals may still matter for discount for each referral and if your create an affordable avenue to mail out or distribute the coupons, cards etc. for a set discount amount. In addition you let him know you are paying privately (cash) and plan your treatment according to your budget and your marketing services discount.

For more savings on your bill you can obtain low cost dental care by enrolling in a discount dental plan for about $100.00 for the entire year! Discount dental plans provide 10-60% off routine dental care and expensive dental procedures plus select plans offer FREE exams, x-rays etc.

Now you have saved hundreds off your dental bill by combining the discount dental plan, marketing and coupon either way you will receive a treatment plan with costs and you will know how much to barter and it's worth to both of you.

Look below for a few more tips on how to cut dental costs
Reply:why don,t you try a dental school instead =the costs there are very reasonable
Reply:I doubt your dentist will be interested. The best advertisement a dentist has is word of mouth from satisfied patients.

You can certainly ask if you want.
Reply:It's unlikely, but that just may be illegal. Try making money some other way, and getting some insurance.
Reply:Honestly, most dentists are busy enough that they are probably not going to care about such a trade. Try a dental school as someone else said, if there is one not too far away. Also, many dentists are offering financing these days, because most people don't have dental coverage anymore even if they have medical. Call around until you find one that offers this.
Reply:I know of 2 people who did this successfully, one an artist and the other a recycler. I don't know how they did it but

write up a proposal so the dentist can get an idea that a trade

would be to their benefit. good luck
Reply:In the USA, bartering is difficult. I know there are barter clubs which serve to match up people with goods and services to exchange.

The IRS makes bartering difficult and there are tedious forms to be filled out if you do business this way. I've know a couple of dentists who have tried the barter system and neither one thought they got their money's worth out of the deal. One traded about $6000 worth of dentistry for getting blacktop on his parking lot. The job wasn't done right and the guy never came back to finish it.

It's hard to find a value on "marketing". I mean...how exactly do you measure the success? Short term, long term? Maybe if you were a house painter or had a boat you didn't want...
Reply:It may be hard because they are so busy and how would you measure the correct amount of trade. I doubt they would do it though. You can offer to pay cash and see if they knock off any prices. Or you can visit a dental college. I use to go down there and sit all day till they took us in. It's low or no cost dental work. Or you can look into dental credit cards. It's long term low interest rates specially designed for dental work. It couldn't hurt to ask for the trade. Worse they can say is no. Then you'll have the options mentioned above. Good luck!

I am uninsured with a low income, with a serious need for dental care.I can't remember the last time I smiled.

North central ohio dentists do you do pro-bono work? It would greatly increase my chances of finding employment.I am happy intelligent person, but due to circumstances beyond my control my dental health has suffered greatly. I really want to smile and be successful. Please help!!

I am uninsured with a low income, with a serious need for dental care.I can't remember the last time I smiled.
Go to Social Services, they have programs that will help with your situation, if they are keeping you from getting a job.
Reply:You might qualify for the state's Medicaid program.
Reply:Does Ohio have Medicaid?? Try to find out, and apply right away. I have it in my state, and I have had dental work done. Call your local Social Services office to obtain info, or go online and bring up Social Services, Ohio.
Reply:A possibility would be the University Dental Schools in your area. They usually provide lower cost dental care, but students do the work.
Reply:Try your local health dept, some states have a dentist there who goes by your income. Or may be able to refer you to one who can help.
Reply:I know where you can get great dental healthcare benefits!! Contact me for more info. It wouldnt be insurance but its VERY VERY affordable AND saves you up to 80% even on orthodontics!! braces teeth whitenings caps and crowns etc etc! Believe me this is perfect for you! and its even extremely affordable for the entire family up to 20 people per household!

Email me at carson5021@yahoo.com
Reply:I agree with the above posters on social services being your first stop. If they dont work out, you might try asking around local humanitarian services. Emergency shelters often know good doctors and financial aid groups for people with low resources, and churches can also be a wealth of such information. Also, the interest rate is a bit steep, but www.carecredit.com takes just about anyone, you will have to check the site for a participating provider in your area. Good luck!
Reply:universities provide cheap dental care. there is also low cost clinics, like that aspen dental place.
Reply:I can tell you to go look at this website to see if this will help you. You can also look up providers there to. You can save from 25%-80% on dental care. This is at prices people can afford.

What is the best way to help a third world country with dental care?

This is for a project that i have to do to graduate, i'm going to Nicaragua to help people as a dental assistant and have to write a paper about it. please help me!

What is the best way to help a third world country with dental care?
Preventive dentistry. It costs less and and we can get more with prevention. Some suggestions:

Objective1: Educate them (especially the little ones) about proper oral hygiene.

Activities:

. Give them the toothbrush and show them how to use it.

. Give them the floss and show them how to use it.

. Give them the fluoride toothpaste.

. Have them chew on disclosing table and show them the dental plaque

Objective 2. Educate them about eating habit (for example, avoid frequent sugar intake)

Activities:

. Tell them about healthy vegetable diet for adults

. Tell them about the benefit of milk for their child's teeth

. Tell them about how sugar can cause cavities

. Tell them about bottle tooth decay

Objective 3. Educate them about the smoking problems

Activities:

. Advise them about how smoking causes lung cancer

. Advise them about how smoking causes heart attack

. Advise them about how smoking causes bad breath

. Advise them about how smoking cause gum disease

. Advise them about the danger of second-hand smoking

. Advise them about how to get Help for quitting

I hope the above will help you.

Have a good trip and good luck in Nicaragua.
Reply:If you are already going to Nicaragua, you know more about this than most people! I think the most important thing to do is educate the people about diet and personal care, since these are issues that can be presented to large groups of people and they can be addressed for free. This will help improve their overall health.
Reply:good luck i was just in nicaragua last august. it is hard because some days they don't running water and that could be the least of their worries. I gave a bunch of people there tooth brushes, i don't know what they did with them. just try and educate them on cavities and mouth diseases. overall the people there are nice and will listen.
Reply:Not sure but the good Old USA needs dental care 4 the poor folks here as well.Sure the Third World needs helps to but it should start right in your own back yard I say.

Being a university student, am i entitled to any benefits for medical/dental care?

As i am 19 and a student at university, am i entitled to any medical or dental benefits for treatment?

Being a university student, am i entitled to any benefits for medical/dental care?
In general, no - not from the university.

Your fees cover tuition, not health care.

You should have purchased health insurance,
Reply:In medical terms you shouldn't have to pay for perscriptions .. as for dental i dunno :)
Reply:I sure hope not u should get a job
Reply:If you're in the US, some universities have health plans for students, but you have to pay for it.

If your school has something like that, I'm sure they'll send you a brochure, or you could ask at one of the offices.
Reply:In most cases your parents policy should have a rider for dependent full time students.
Reply:Most universities have a "health" center where they have doctors, nurses, etc, to help you out when you get sick. It is like a very cheap health plan. They may even have dental and optical services a couple times a week.

However you don't get this if your parents signed a waiver saying you will be covered by their insurance when you enrolled and paid your tuition fees. Check with the school to see what you can do and find out where their health center is.

Even at Community Colleges, they have this.

Well, this was all in California... btw.
Reply:Yes, you can get help. Telephone NHS on 0845 850 1166 and for more information go to

Best of luck with your studies.
Reply:Through your university they have a health center, but no, there are no health or dental benefits from a university for those who attend classes.

Does anyone know of where I can get cosmetic dental care at a very low price?

I would even be willing to be an example case for a dental office! I have very good insurance, just not enough to cover all of my work that needs to be done.

Does anyone know of where I can get cosmetic dental care at a very low price?
You can definately check our your local universities and see what kind of dental programs they have and see if they have med students who are about to graduate work on people who don't have the money or ins. won't cover full price for regular cosmetic work. It's cheap and I believe they let you do payments. The dentists/professors are there observing so it's not like they do it themselves. One of my friends had his teeth worked on here in Dallas at Baylor, and they look really good... Check it out.
Reply:Border town.Mexico.
Reply:I know some people that went to Mexico to get dental work for cheap. But that would only apply if you live close to the border otherwise you would incur travel expenses.

Reply:HELLO,

FYI DENTISTRY IS ALL COSMETIC. THERE ARE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF QUALITY AND SUCCESS OF THE FINAL RESULT, HOWEVER.

A DENTAL UNIVERSITY WOULD GIVE YOU VERY GOOD RESULTS.

YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT HAVING DENTAL INSURANCE DOESN'T MEAN THAT THE WORK HAS NO FEE. THINK OF INSURANCE AS HAVING A COUPON FOR THE TOTAL COST. YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE TO PAY YOUR DEDUCTIBLE.
Reply:if u live near a dental school you can sometimes volunteer for the students. when i was a kid i had braces this way and cavities filled.;)michele
Reply:Thailand.

But remember... cheap now, means HUGELY expensive later.
Reply:Check this out:

It may save you a lot of money.

But first verify availability of dentists in your area and the cost for their services by calling them.
Reply:I would be very cautious of going to Mexico (or any other country) for dental work. It may sound offensive, but there are lots of scams geared toward people from the states especially in Mexico, and if they know you are coming just for treatment, they will know that you will have next to no recourse (or ability if you end up in an ER or worse).

Here is a site where you can view a host of dental plan providers listed by region and most offer significant discounts for cosmetic procedures. They are discount plans, not insurance.

Where can a person get free or very low dental care in Alabama?

Why is there lack of services offered to alabamaians when it comes to health? where in alabama can a person go for donated dental services, an other health related services for the poor?

Where can a person get free or very low dental care in Alabama?
You could go to a dental school where they practice on patients with an overseeing dentist for low cost, but each session is like 3 hours long! ( I tried it a few times!)

Or you can get a discount medical card (like I did!)

The company is AmeriPlan USA and they have 4 different plans for people who can't afford normal insurance coverage.

It covers all on-going medical and dental problems, with no physicals or paperwork to fill out. If this is something you are considering, I can tell you how it personally works for me.. and you can contact some of the dentists and doctors in your area to see the savings you could recieve with Ameriplan.

At the website you can click on the contact section.. and it gives my phone #. I'm central time, so I only ask that you don't call after 9. p.m. Thank you!
Reply:Try contacting your local dental society in Alabama and get the names of dentists that provide services to low income patients for free or sliding scale. You may have to call the American Dental Association first. Here are the links to the Amer. Dental Assoc., Alabama Dental Assoc. and the Birmingham Dental Assoc.

Also dental schools AND also community colleges where they train dental hygienists because those students assist dentists who do real procedures and for greatly reduced cost.

Sometimes just calling and shopping around works. I'm in Phoenix and I found a legit dentist who will do a crown for $500. My brother has dental insurance and his CO-PAY is $500 for a crown.

Good luck.

Do you think that the prices of medical and dental care are inflated because?

the main way they are paid for is through insurance companies? They can pretty much set whatever price they want, and they do.

If all insurance dissapeared tomorrow I dont think anyone but upper class people could afford health care.

I went to the emergency room after a weight lifting injury and I was charged $300 for each doctor that came in and just said "hello, how are you" 4 doctors, what kind of crap is that? And the nurses did most if not all of the work, they are the ones that are under-paid.

Do you think that the prices of medical and dental care are inflated because?
Charges are inflated because of insurance companies and government ineptitude and meddling:

When 75% of the people who declare bankruptcy over medical bills ARE INSURED, then insurance is CLEARLY not the answer.

"Aldrich’s situation is "asinine" but increasingly common, said Dr. Deborah Thorne of Ohio University. Thorne, co-author of a widely quoted 2005 study that found medical bills contributed to nearly half of the 1.5 million personal bankruptcies filed in the U.S. each year, said that ratio has likely worsened since the data was gathered.

...

Like Aldrich, Thorne said, three-quarters of the individuals in the study who declared bankruptcy because of health problems were insured. "

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20201807/

Linda Peeno, MD testified that SHE had often denied treatment JUST to save the insurance company money http://www.thenationalcoalition.org/DrPe...

Furthermore:

"the vast majority of health insurance policies are through for-profit stock companies. They are in the process of “shedding lives” as some term it when “undesirable” customers are lost through various means, including raising premiums and co-pays and decreasing benefits (Britt, “Health insurers getting bigger cut of medical dollars,” 15 October 2004, investors.com). That same Investors Business Daily article from 2004 noted the example of Anthem, another insurance company. They said the top five executives (not just the CEO) received an average of an 817 percent increase in compensation between 2000 and 2003. The CEO, for example, had his compensation go from $2.5 million to $25 million during that time period. About $21 million of that was in stock payouts, the article noted.

A 2006 article, “U.S. Health Insurance: More Market Domination, More CEO Compensation”

(hcrenewal.blogspot.com) notes that in 56 percent of 294 metropolitan areas one insurer “controls more than half the business in health maintenance organization and preferred provider networks underwriting." In addition to having the most enrollees, they also are the biggest purchasers of health care and set the price and coverage terms. “’The results is double-digit premium increases from 2001 and 2004—peaking with a 13.9 percent jump in 2003—soaring well above inflation and wages increases.’" Where is all that money going? The article quotes a Wall Street Journal article looking at the compensation of the CEO of UnitedHealth Group. His salary and bonus is $8 million annually. He has benefits such as the use of a private jet. He has stock-option fortunes worth $1.6 billion."

You can see the government's failure to enforce CONTRACT law which allows the insurers to deny legit claims with impunity leads to bankruptcy and blood money profits in the millions for SOBs who are NOT earning the money, just STEALING it by refusing to pay legit claims.

Whenever you have antitrust violations you have the taxpayer being robbed--and that's the norm for big markets where the insurers effectively set the prices. Look at their profits and do the math.

We have NO price transparency in this field only. There is NO other field in which you have NOT a clue as to what you'll be left holding the bag for. Buying a house? It IS all spelled out for you before you commit (some idiots ignore the facts, but that's on them, the info IS there). Buying a car? Same thing--it has to be spelled out. Go to the grocery store? The guy ahead pays $1.49 a pound for apples and so do YOU and the price was marked. There are laws about charging people the same for rentals, about car places having to provide a written estimate and coming within 10% of that or get your permission and provide a new estimate. EVERYONE but those in health care have to tell you about charges and you can shop around. ONLY in health care can you be "insured" only to discover AFTER the fact that the insurer refuses to pay his obligation and now you're saddled with $20K in unexpected bills and idiots expect you to pay in violation of contract law. (Refusal of legit claims; reliance on a third party promise; failure to form a contract as a meeting of the minds REQUIRES agreement on price, etc.)

UHC is a load of BS. Canadian doc:

"...Another sign of transformation: Canadian doctors, long silent on the health-care system’s problems, are starting to speak up. Last August, they voted Brian Day president of their national association. A former socialist who counts Fidel Castro as a personal acquaintance, Day has nevertheless become perhaps the most vocal critic of Canadian public health care, having opened his own private surgery center as a remedy for long waiting lists and then challenged the government to shut him down. “This is a country in which dogs can get a hip replacement in under a week,” he fumed to the New York Times, “and in which humans can wait two to three years.”

And now even Canadian governments are looking to the private sector to shrink the waiting lists. Day’s clinic, for instance, handles workers’-compensation cases for employees of both public and private corporations. In British Columbia, private clinics perform roughly 80 percent of government-funded diagnostic testing. In Ontario, where fealty to socialized medicine has always been strong, the government recently hired a private firm to staff a rural hospital’s emergency room.

This privatizing trend is reaching Europe, too. Britain’s government-run health care dates back to the 1940s. Yet the Labour Party—which originally created the National Health Service and used to bristle at the suggestion of private medicine, dismissing it as “Americanization”—now openly favors privatization. Sir William Wells, a senior British health official, recently said: “The big trouble with a state monopoly is that it builds in massive inefficiencies and inward-looking culture.” Last year, the private sector provided about 5 percent of Britain’s nonemergency procedures; Labour aims to triple that percentage by 2008. The Labour government also works to voucherize certain surgeries, offering patients a choice of four providers, at least one private. And in a recent move, the government will contract out some primary care services, perhaps to American firms such as UnitedHealth Group and Kaiser Permanente.

Sweden’s government, after the completion of the latest round of privatizations, will be contracting out some 80 percent of Stockholm’s primary care and 40 percent of its total health services, including one of the city’s largest hospitals. Since the fall of Communism, Slovakia has looked to liberalize its state-run system, introducing co-payments and privatizations. And modest market reforms have begun in Germany: increasing co-pays, enhancing insurance competition, and turning state enterprises over to the private sector (within a decade, only a minority of German hospitals will remain under state control). It’s important to note that change in these countries is slow and gradual—market reforms remain controversial. But if the United States was once the exception for viewing a vibrant private sector in health care as essential, it is so no longer."

The ONLY sensible solution I've seen offered to date and it's COMPREHENSIVE:

QUALITY, ACCESSIBLE, AFFORDABLE health care for all.

That means preventative care (physical with follow up). Real medication (no Medicare "donut holes" the really ill are ripped off again.) No bogus ridiculously low "caps" on needed medical procedures. No abuse of the ER. No paying for the silly with the sniffles to go to the doc for free. No more bankruptcies over medical bills. I want THIS plan that ends abuse of the taxpayer, takes the burden off employers, provides price transparency, and ends the rip-off of the US taxpayer at the hands of greedy insurance CEOs (which has been repeatedly documented).

Read the PDF, not the blurb, for the bulk of the plan. Book is searchable on Amazon.com

Cassandra Nathan's Save America, Save the World

We NEED more doctors, nurses, etc. and we need COMPETITION. THAT plan recognizes those facts, others just funnel MORE money to insurers with NO reform. Idiocy.
Reply:Hospitals have to treat everybody and those that don't pay are paid for by those that do, plus the tort laws cause the doctors insurance to be very high...
Reply:Insurance IS the problem.
Reply:There is no doubt, I am a provider for health insurance and I know it is full of bureaucratic bullsh** that detracts from the quality of care and inflates the price so what you get is really really really bad quality health care that may, in fact, kill you, for a huge price. Universal healthcare would help and the rich should get the same good quality but that would be a reallly big change from what we have now, which is bad healthcare for all. Dangerous and costly. Vote for Obama
Reply:If insurance disappeared tomorrow the doctors and hospitals would lose too much business unless they started re-evaluating what they charge the average American.

So it would be beneficial to do away with insurance companies (i.e. middlemen) and make these professions deal directly with their consumer base.

Your analysis of emergency rooms is correct and if you had no insurance they inflate the price more than they do for the insured so you are paying a far greater price for their services if uninsured.

In countries that have Universal Health Care (i.e. Canada, France, England) does that include dental care as?

well or do you have to go to a dentist and pay for dental work privately?

In countries that have Universal Health Care (i.e. Canada, France, England) does that include dental care as?
Yes, in France it includes dental and vision. There is no difference if you see a dentist or a cardiologist, the coverage is the same. But the coverage for anything borderline cosmetic is very poor. For instance getting a decay treated, a tooth extracted, no problem, you're covered. But if you want to then restore the tooth with a nice implant and crown, the coverage is very poor because it is considered a cosmetic improvement and not a medical necessity. So most people rely on their "mutuelle" (private but non-profit complementary insurance which they can choose to have or not. Since it is cheap, most people have one) to cover uncovered costs.

Same thing for vision. The national insurance will cover ophthalmologist's visits and any necessary surgery as any other medical field. But they will cover glasses poorly, and only based on the price of the cheapest lenses and frames. Therefore they don't cover contacts or laser surgery (unless it is a medical necessity, but not to improve your appearance if you can wear glasses instead), but most "mutuelles" do, either fully or partially. When I was in France, my "mutuelle" reimbursed the cost of contacts not by percentage but by a fixed amount based on the most expensive contacts that existed. Since my contacts were cheaper than that, I made a profit since they gave me more money than I had spent!
Reply:In Australia (we have universal health care ) dental is not covered. In the UK it is only covered when you are pregnant or if you are a child.
Reply:Dental work is charged for on the NHS but is a lot cheaper than Private Dentists...

The cheapest charge will be £15.50 and the most expensive £189.

From April, the current roster of 400 different charges for treatments will be replaced by just three:

£15.50 — examination, diagnosis and preventative care including X-rays, scale and polish

£42.40 — fillings, root canal treatment, extractions

£189 — complex courses of treatment and procedures such as the fitting of crowns, dentures or bridges

No charge — writing a prescription, removing stitches, repairs to dentures

People who are currently exempt from paying NHS dental charges, for example because they are on a low income, are pregnant or under 18, will continue to be exempt.
Reply:Nope. Sorry. Not in Canada. Dental care is a totally seperate entity. In Canada, dental care is very expensive but you can get on good dental plans through your work if you are lucky and have a really good job. In The UK there is free NHS dental treatment but a HUGE shortage of dentists.
Reply:Down to France, so here you go:

" Additionally, almost all French buy supplemental insurance, similar to Medigap, which reduces their out-of-pocket costs and covers extra expenses such as private hospital rooms, eyeglasses, and dental care."

Reply:I love to live in France ....
Reply:There you go when it comes to France.

The standard medicare that French people pay directly as a "charge" on their salary covers a little bit, whatever dental care you may need. Different percentage covers dental care depending on the provided dental care.

What we usualy do is that we contract a separate and private medicare on top of the medicare provided by the government. It is called a "Mutuelle".

In Alsace-Moselle, north east of France (the part of France that went back and forth between Germany and France), it is compulsary that all workers have a private medicare.

In basically all cases, the company you work for, pay a part of your medicare.

In my case, my private medicare costs 100 Euros/month, the company pays 50 Euros and I pay the rest.

I can tell you that for almost everything I need when it comes to medical, dental cares I dont have to pay anything.

Last year, I went to the dentist and had to replace a tooth. The total cost was 1000 euros. Govt medicare paid 200 euros and all the rest was paid by the private medicare.

I changed my glasses. I could get a frame for 274 euros and 2 times 250euros for the glasses alone. I got a really good frame and a good quality glass....I paid absolutely nothing thanks to the private medicare I have (the govt medicare only riembourse 2,74 euros pero glass and nothing for the frame itself....)

And this goes for my whole family, wife and kid!

If you don't have dental insurance, is there some other way ur saving $$ on dental care?

Because it seems like not too many ppl even have dental insurance these days.

You can try a dental school in your area. They often use people to practice procedures on (with an professor present of course).
Reply:There are discount programs, that are not insurance, that you can get. A few dentists we looked into used them, and it discounts each kind of treatment/visit. I don't remember the names of them, but do a search online. There was a big website that compared/contrasted the different dental discount programs, and showed you how much each one was annually. They were pretty cheap (like $100 a year). We never joined bc we went with a dentist who didn't take them.
Reply:yeah-you could put your house up for a second mortgage...as retarded as that sounds, Oxford Insurance Company suggested that to my Mom a few days ago when she said she couldn't afford their premiums....irregardless of what Republicans say, I'd pay higher taxes in a heartbeat if it meant my middle-class Mom and Stepdad could afford to see a dentist without putting their house on the line...ROCK THE VOTE!!!
Reply:As has been mentioned above you can try a dental school...

BUT if you know of a clinic in your area for people without health insurance (Like http://www.howardbrown.org) then you can get a referal from them to a dentist that works on a sliding scale.

I can honestly say that if my Uncle were not a dentist then I wouldn't have seen one in the last 10 years...

No health coverage really stops a lot of the "Standard" stuff...

Reply:You can say that again, and it's one of the most expensive treatments to get these days. Do you know how many people literally don't get regular (and needed) dental care just because of how expensive it is, and because there are not affordable dental insurances out there? I mean, if you don't work for a large corporation that offers free benefits to its employees, your almost crap outta luck. And that's real sad. I had beautiful teeth for the majority of my life. Then, being in my 40's now, my teeth are going downhill because I can't afford "expensive" dental care when the problem arises. Then it gets wors and worse, next thing you know, you gotta get the tooth pulled because it didn't get the care it needed in time. And that's not good - losing your teeth. We need just about every tooth in our head (except wisdom). Trust me, after you've had at least 1 or 2 chewing teeth pulled on each side %26amp; top %26amp; bottom, eating your meal is just NOT the same. You can't chew anymore hardly!!!

We need affordable DENTAL CARE (%26amp; HEALTH CARE) for the struggling %26amp; middle-class AMERICANS ....... Where is our government when WE need them? It would be nice to get some help at HOME, instead of the help going to the other third-world countries, for a change. Now let some Iranians, Iraqs, or Indians come over here from the Middle East, and just look at all the help they get. If most people knew the truth, they would be very angry. They sure get loans a lot easier than we do! And low interest, too. That sucks. There are these dental plans out there, and I've researched a few of them; thank God they do exist. But even if you have one of those plans, it still costs hundreds of dollars for treatments such as crowns, bridges, root canals - the very things that "save" our teeth! Most people are living paycheck to paycheck, and can't afford $200 - 800 for one tooth to be saved, although we want to save it! What are we supposed to do? I've been doing without, and trust me - that's certainly not the answer! I've been looking online for an AFFORDABLE dental "Insurance" (NOT dental savings plan) that pays 80% of the bill, not save me 3% off my bill. That's not near enough savings for struggling Americans.

If you don't have dental insurance, is there some other way ur saving $$ on dental care?

Because it seems like not too many ppl even have dental insurance these days.

If you don't have dental insurance, is there some other way ur saving $$ on dental care?
The very best way to save on dental expenses is to use a dental school in your area. If you qualify as a patient, dental care is provided at drastically reduced rates. Care is provided by under-graduate or graduate students, under the supervision of medical school professors.

If you still wish to obtain your care from dentists in private practice, I provide links on my site to discount dental cards on my site - http://www.health-insurance-low-cost.net...

Where can I get free to low cost dental care?
Try this website:

http://www.dentalplans.com/

Depending on what state you live in (just enter your zip code), they offer some dental plans as low as $79.95 a year! You can even compare plans to see which one would be better depending on what work you think you might need. Good luck to you.
Reply:Call a Dental school near you. They are usually affiliated w/ a teaching hospital. You will be treated by resident dental students under very strict teaching supervision. They will usually charge only for materials. I know of several people who have done this. You may have to be put on a waiting list.
Reply:Call the dental society in your county or a nearby county. They can usually give you the numbers to clinics that offer low cost, sliding scale or free dentistry in your area.

BEWARE if you are shopping for a dental plan. A lot of the so called "discount" plans that offer coverage for a flat fee per year are rip offs. I know this, they offer little discount on an offices fees and then you are out the money you spent on the plan.

good luck!

1800 dentist, explain your complete situation to them

check in with social services, and see what they have

lastly, if those 2 dont work, then i would go from one dentist to another pleading for them to do pro bono work. you will get one that will help
Reply:Contact your local or state dental association and and see if there are any dentists who provide free or reduced cost care for low-income, disabled or senior patients.

Call your local health department and ask about health centers that provide dental care for free or on a sliding scale.

Go to a dental school, if there is one near you, for reduced costs.

Check http://www.toothwoman.net to see if low-cost or free dental services are available near you.

Check http://bphc.hrsa.gov and choose "Find a Health Center" to see if there is a low-cost clinic near you.

Check http://www.nfdh.org/DDS.html to see if your state has a "Donated Dental Services" program. D.D.S. is designed to locate dentists who will give free care to patients who are financially compromised due to medical problems. This is a process that will take a couple of months to get your information and then arrange for someone to see you. Not all states have D.D.S. programs.

I'm in need of desperate and affordable dental care in Austin. help?

I have a filling that is stuck in between two of my upper molars. Ouch! Somehow the filling detached itself from one of my bottom fillings and when I was munching on chips I managed to chew it up into my molars. Now it's stuck and I can't get it out! I've used a toothpick already.....

Another thing is I don't have dental insurance. Aargh!

I need something I can afford....

I'm in need of desperate and affordable dental care in Austin. help?
If your dental problems are really interesting, you might be able to get some first-year dental student in San Antonio to try his or her hand at fixing them.

Can I get any kind of cheap dental care?

I've already checked on a lot of the answers. I have a broken molar and the nerve is probably exposed. I've checked with places in my area that should have helped me but, I can't get anywhere with them. The local schools don't offer those kind of services saying I may need to have the tooth pulled and replaced. I really can't afford any kind of care right now - feeding my family and myself is top priority. Does anyone know of any websites or places I can check? I'm getting tired of being in pain.

Can I get any kind of cheap dental care?
You can sign up for a dental discount program where you receive........well.......discounts in dental care. 50% fillings, cleanings for $50 etc. Ameriplan is one of them........u pay $12/mo and then can use any doctor on thier list to get teh discounts. I got my braces through them for $2000. Around here, that's almost %50 off. This might not help immediately in your more emergent need, but I'd look into it if I were you as these days dental care is SO not cheap or included in basic health care packages. :( good luck with this!
Reply:you could try a dental school in your area but better yet, fly to mexico and you can have a free vacation and have your dental work done for less than you would have paid in the states.
Reply:Go cross the border. Real cheap dental work. Open 7 days a week. No appointment necessary! Adios!!!
Reply:I would recommend that you contact your local dental association and ask if they can recommend a dentist that could offer a payment plan or treatment for a reduced cost. Some dentists are willing to barter (even for labor like cutting the dentists lawn for so long, or cleaning his or her home) but you'll have to call around to find one, I doubt they'll advertise this. Not to scare you, but having a tooth that is infected can be a hazard to your health and in rare cases an abscess can begin to close your airway or the infection could spread. I encourage you to seek immediate care if you have any trouble breathing or develop a fever.

What do you do when you can't afford more dental care?

I was very sick for a while and during that time pretty much everything crashed on me dental wise, and I already have $16,000+ in dental bills I put on the credit card, $2000 I haven't paid yet, and quite a lot more to go and things still look terrible.

I don't know what I can do besides run my credit card up higher, and eventually I won't be able to do that anymore.

any ideas?

I'm on disability and Medicare has no dental coverage.

What do you do when you can't afford more dental care?
There are places like Social Services and if they can'y help then they can tell you who can.

Call them first. Hope it helps.

Reply:Check your area for a dental school, they offer services at a great discount, you will however spend much more time at a school than an office. You also can try your local health dept., many have a dental clinic.
Reply:Yes, True! A local dental school offers discounted services... sometimes free. However, if you make too much money, you cannot get medical, so if you are stuck with paying on credit, it's better than nothing. Trust me, I went years without dental work and am payin for it now but I am sure glad to be paying for it rather than loosing teeth and being in pain. I was fortunate enough to get to my teeth in time and haven't lost any yet. 5 root canals later with 3 crowns and 5 additional cavitites,... I am in debt too!!!
Reply:I talk to people almost daily that are going though this very same issue, or something similar. They may have health and/or dental coverage, only problem is, what they need done is not covered or is limited.

I will say up front that I am an independent rep with Ameriplan. I truly love helping people to save money on their healthcare costs if at all possible.

In this situation, being on disability and not having dental coverage, instead of paying full price for all of your dental work, you could be saving 25-80%. All ongoing problems are included also, so any work that has already been started will be included as well. The plan only costs $19.95/mo for an entire household, up to 20 people.

Hopefully you are able to find something that will work for you!

Good Luck!

Where can i get free or cheap dental care in New Jersey?

I already checked with my school...they do not cover dental with student health plan.

I am in the northern new jersey/nyc area.

Where can i get free or cheap dental care in New Jersey?
Good luck! I live in Ohio and I don't think cheap dental care exists, the costs are out of this world! I need major work done, but it's like taking out a second loan! Here in Ohio, in Columbus OSU dental college. It's student but performing procedures with real dental surgeons by theyr'e side. Cheapest place around but it's first come, first serve, have to be there very early and for me it's to much of a drive. Maybe you could look into some kind of state dental college denistry like they have here though. Much cheaper. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Would tricare cover hospital costs for dental care?

My son needs some dental work done and because of his age they are going to do it in a hospital under general anethesia. We have United Concordia, but after they pay their (minimal) part, we still have to pay $750. This is without the hospital charges. They don't yet know how much the hospital will charge, but I was thinking it might be covered under Tricare? Has anyone had a situation like this?

Would tricare cover hospital costs for dental care?
Would it be possible to find a pediatric dentist who does general anesthesia in their office? The dentist I take my daughters to does general anesthesia in the office so there are no hospital fees.

I don't know if tricare would cover it but if you find out they don't, I'd go on the tricare website and look up pediatric dentists and see if it's possible to have it done in the office.

Good luck!

EDIT: Most likely, due to the annual max that tricare covers for dental work, you will end up with a pretty large hospital bill. I think it would be worth it to find the nearest pediatric dentist even if it is 2 hours away. The one I take my daughters to sees children down to your son's age (my daughter is 2 and needs to be put under G.A. for a filling also) and they do the general anesthesia there in the office. They have a whole process they go through where they give your child the medicine and you sit with them in the room until your child falls asleep. Then you have to sit in the waiting room until the dental work is done and they take your child to a recovery room where a nurse watches over them and then when they notice your child beginning to come to, they call you in to be with your child when they actually wake up. It is a very careful process and it is all done in the doctor's office. Like I said, I think it would be worth it to call around even if you have to make a bit of a drive, just call around and ask what their practices are for general anesthesia. I don't know if it's all the same but as dependents in the Marine Corps our max dental benefit is $1200/year. A hospital stay alone will eat that up real quick. Whatever is left of the bill will be 100% your responsibility. Good luck, again.
Reply:it would be covered under the tricare dental plan yes....
Reply:Why are they wanting to do it at a hospital and not the dental office? Check into that. It sounds like they're trying to make more money off of you. I can't think of anything dental related that's not an emergency that would need to be done in the hospital. TRICARE won't cover something that United Concordia won't for dental care for dependents

Go to another United Concordia dentist and get a second opinion.

Good luck to you.
Reply:I doubt it, but all you can do is call TRICARE and ask.

What is covered on the nhs dental care? are implants covered?

i have a calcium defiency and have recently gone through a lot of dental work. I also have receding gums which has now been treated, but i'm left with ugly looking gaps and missing gum.......would cosmectic be covered on NHS due to health reasons?

What is covered on the nhs dental care? are implants covered?
Hi no unfortunatley implants and cosmetic treatments are not covered by the NHS just as boob jobs are rarley given on the NHS etc. You would probably need to go private and if you want implants your talking £2000 a tooth! ask your dentist what you can do as you are not happy with the appearance of your teeth.

Does anyoneknow where to go for dental care in Ca? i have know ins.or money?

Does anyoneknow where to go for dental care in Ca? i have know ins.or money?
If your too rich for Medi-Cal (Denti-Cal) THe only option the State pays for is the emergency room, and they'll only give you treatment if your near death.

Can you get a Doctors referral for Dental Care to claim on Medicare?

I am in my late 20's and had 2 children 18mths apart, which plays havic on your teeth, and I've ground my teeth in my sleep all my life. In the last 2 years I've had a couple of teeth pulled and 4mths ago one fell out! I need major dental work and i'm not covered by private medical, I have had several people tell me to see a doctor, and they could give a certificate/referral to a dentist and they could cover it with Medicare. Is this true and are there any special circumstances?

Can you get a Doctors referral for Dental Care to claim on Medicare?
Obviously these fools are not from Australia and don't understand your question.

You friends are correct - kind of.

Medicare was offering a service through a referral from your GP for a limited number of free services. You have to have a chronic condition - which it sounds like you have. But this service will end on the 30th March this year.

If you can get your local GP to give you a referral this week (alot wont do it). Then you will still be eligible.

Please check out the link and read the information - you will have to scroll down a little. Hope this helps!

http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/prov...

PS. And for all you peeps out there not from Australia - we don't get "free medical/dental" included in our employment here! So count yourselves extremely lucky!
Reply:No, medicare does NOT cover dental, but if you have medicare they often offer a special price for you to purchase dental insurance. In my experience it is MetLife, but it only covers preventitive and dentures partially. Medicaid differs from state to state. If you have medicaid, some states give emergency dental coverage to adults for extractions, but that is usually all. Some states offer dental coverage during pregnancy. There are no exceptions to this rule, no states in the US offer full adult coverage with Medicaid. Try locating a dental school.
Reply:NO.

Medacrime don't give a flying sh**
Reply:Why dont you get a job with benefits like the rest of us. Quit counting on our taxes to take care of you, if you cant afford dental and medical care how can you afford the internet!
Reply:In Australia help with dental costs is only available if you have private health cover with extras, However, you can try contacting your nearest government run dental clinic (could be hospital based) for information on reduced cost dental care - but you may have to go onto a waiting list (which may be years)..
Reply:Medicare is for old or legitimately disabled people and doesn't cover dental care.

MedicAID is for poor people under age 65 with no hope of employment due to a variety of problems, many of them legitimate, but primarily drug and alcohol abuse and indiscriminate reproduction by morons of both sexes who waste their school years and spend the rest of their lives thinking of ways to sponge off the public. Medicaid will get you basic dental care, but nothing fancy.

Call your local hospital or social services office, tell them your story, and ask if they can refer you to a charity/public service dental clinic that charges according to ability to pay.

Seriously, the best way is to go with Ameri Plan - you can get dental, vision, prescription and chiropractic care at at up to 80 per cent off. ASeriously, the best way is to go with Ameri Plan - no restrictions on pre-existing conditions. You can get this for THREE months for $23! They need volunteers to perform certain work from cleaning teeth to taking out teeth, while being graded by the board. You should look into something like that. Remedy for jawache after dental care????

Hi - I am 12 weeks pregnant and had some dental work done last Wednesday. I had one of my very back teeth filled. My dentist gave me a shot to numb my mouth. My jaw is now throbbing. I called my dentisit and they said it was because the shot had to got through a muscle and that the throbbing should go in away in a couple of days. They suggested I continue taking Tylenol. Called my OB about the Tylenol and they said to take no more that 6 tablets in a 24 hour period. What else can I do for the pain? I can only sleep for about 3 hours before the Tylenol wears off and then I am left in misery for about an hour and half before I can take more and wait for it to kick in. Any advise is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Remedy for jawache after dental care????
Try icing it down - ice cubes in a baggie wrapped in a wash cloth, 20 minutes on, repeat as needed. It won't get rid of it completely but it really does dull it. Helps with any inflamation too.
Reply:Sorry for the pain maybe try a heating pad with moist heat on your jaw.
Reply:If you can take Ibuprofen while pregnant, that is the absolute best, it helps with pain and inflammation of the muscle and joint

Where can I get free dental care in the Metro Detroit area?

I need extreme dental work, probably dentures, and I don't have dental insurance. My teeth hurt and I can't eat anything without alot of pain.

Where can I get free dental care in the Metro Detroit area?
Contact your local or state dental association and and see if there are any dentists who provide free or reduced cost care for low-income, disabled or senior patients.

Call your local health department and ask about health centers that provide dental care for free or on a sliding scale.

Your local United Way may also be aware of such a clinic. In some areas, you can reach them now by dialing 2-1-1 for "non-emergency information."

Not all states have D.D.S. programs.

$16,000 in dental care, what should I do? Stay in U.S. and pay it, or get treatment in a different country?

Hey folks. I just signed some paperwork a few weeks ago to get pretty much my whole mouth taken care of. I have some pretty messed up teeth, and the total will be about $16,000 (at $400 a month).

Now, I'm only 24 years old, and I don't need this kind of debt. I was planning on possibly moving to London for several other reasons sometime next year.

So is it a rational idea to think that I should tell these guys to stop the treatment where they're at right now, and I'll just pay for what they've done, and then just have the remainder of the work done in London, where it would be FREE?

Also, would there be any legal problems involved with any of this?

Chances are, if you signed the paperwork, you'll still have to pay for it. Try to get out of it, but if they still insist, it's better to get a dental plan through a site like http://dentalplansaver.com and pay 80$ a year...it should save a lot of that money. Good Luck!
Reply:Hi There

I am glad that I came to know about your problem. I would suggest you come to India for a short visit, it will cost you around $1200 for round trip airfare and rest you could stay at an economical hotel in delhi for around $40 per night. And the cost of surgery should not be more than $600 to $700. Most of people from US and other foreign countries do it as the cost of surgery would be very less in India. I would suggest you to browse thru some good hospital websites and get in touch with them thru email and then decide accordingly.

Just make use of internet to search for everything...

Need any help them do get in touch with me thru email at my same yahoo.com id

Have a goodluck...
Reply:That's a lot of money to pay.

There are different options. But you need to talk to the dentist first. Tell him/her that you are unable to pay. So you would like to stop the procedure and pay for the treatment already rendered.

Then decide if you want to get the treatment done elsewhere and save money.

You have different options available to you, if you want them.

You may contact me if you need help.
Reply:If you feel so strongly about going abroad...have you thought about another opinion? Also, make the dentist aware of the money issues, maybe there is an alternative treatment plan. You can also check into financing through Dental Fee Plan, but then you have interest on that. Also, would you qualify for the "free care" in London? That you might want to check into if there are any stipulations.
Reply:Please visit http://www.getfreedental.com. There is an entire section dedicated to get work done in foreign countries.

Good luck!

How much is dental care in the US generally?

I'm needing to get some dental work done and live in Aus, but I'm travelling back to my hometown in Michigan in a couple of months. I'm just trying to work out if it would be cheaper to do it there.

Has anyone had a root canal therapy and crown done recently, or could anyone direct me to a place where I could find a general idea of prices? I know I'd have to speak to the dentist once I get there to know for sure, but it would help to have a general idea. (If it's generally about the same cost, then I'll just enjoy my holiday and get it done once I get home!)

Depending on what is found in the tooth, I could be looking at a root canal and crown or an extraction and implant.

Thanks!

How much is dental care in the US generally?
I'm a dentist in Texas. Root canals generally run from $700 to 1000, crowns $800-1200. Implants are about $2500-3500(not including the crown that will need to be placed on the implant)
Reply:listen it sounds like you could really save money by doing this. i work for a place that has saved people up tp 80% on dental it would probably be worth it to sign up save ALL that money and then cancel with no problems. I say cancel because it would be worthless to keep it when you go out of the US but its VERY VERY cheap and you would save ALOT of money NO LIE! i can give you more info but i cant solicit here so email me and ill give you all the info and you can see if it would be good for you. But i think its a no brainer in your situation!

email me and ill get you the info

Handicapped laws re avaliability of dental care for quadraplegics?

Every community should have at least one dentist whose office is equipped to handle patients in electic wheelchairs who can't be4 tansferred to the regular dental chair. The entire Norfolk area doesn't have such a dentist. My son is a quad on suctioinm with rotten teeth. He has dental insurance, bu no dentist in the Norfold area can accomodate a patient in an electric chair. One that can't be transfered to the conventional denal chair without the use od a Hoya life.So hse's spent 10 years with abcesseed teeth, actute pain, and the only relief he's gotten is when he goes to the VA for his annual physical they will pull those that are aching. When about the effects of infected teeth on general health? He has dental insurance. What he needs is a dentist.

Handicapped laws re avaliability of dental care for quadraplegics?
I'm a dentist.

I can understand your frustration. I've encountered many situations like yours before (people unable to find a dentist willing to treat them), especially when I was doing my surgery internship. Many general dentists would send patients like your son to us to take to the operating room and remove all their rotten teeth.

If I understand it correctly, your son is unable to protect his own airway. Even if he could stand up and do jumping jacks in the treatment room, I'd refuse to treat him in my office. Any dentist would do the same.

What you need is a general dentist with operating room privileges (believe it or not, some general dentists do have them). That way, treatment can often be completed in one or two appointments, and it frees the doctor from having to manage your son's airway, as he will be intubated and thus have a protected airway. This aspect would be monitored by an anesthesiologist.

It's more expensive, but you'll need to bite the bullet.

Check with some local pediatric dentists. They often have OR privileges. If your son is too old for them to treat, they still may be able to refer you to a general dentist with OR privileges.
Reply:That's a tough one. I'm sorry that you're having a hard time finding a dentist to accommodate him. It's sad to think he may be in pain and you can't do anything to help.

I'm sure you've called around and spoken with many dentists in your area.

Have you asked his general physician for a referral?

If I were you, I would compose a letter that expresses your concern for your son's health. Describe the problems he has, the medicines he takes and the pain that he's in. Send, with this letter, a picture of your son (to make it more personal) to every dentist in your area.

Ask them if they could help. You may be surprised at just how clever dentists can be when faced with situations like these.

Have you asked if his teeth can be worked on from his wheelchair. We actually extracted a tooth on a lady in a wheelchair because she couldn't get into our chair. Send the letters marked to a specific doctor, not the practice's name.

If I can help you with your letter, feel free to e-mail me.

Best wishes!
Reply:Isabel, I feel for you and your son. The status of his airway is not clear to me, but if it is compromised, I agree with Nebula.

If he is pretty much stable, you may still be able to find a dentist who can handle him in the office. I have a ramp for access (although it is NOT required) and I have two units that can be sort of reversed for use with the patient in a wheelchair. It is the Adec Radius unit and it is an extremely popular unit and chair, so you might find someone who has this same set-up. You just reverse the headrest and back the wheelchair into position behind the dental chair so the patient's head meets up with the headrest. The equipment can then spin around behind the regular chair and it's almost business as usual.

Norfolk is a big town. If you tried a directory service, perhaps nobody has registered, but if you do an office-by-office poll (on the phone) you might find one or more who can accomodate an electric wheelchair. I'm just a "little guy" in a one-horse town and I can do it. I'm just not registered with any agencies or anything.

Reply:Contact the American Dental Association and inquire about the dental society in your area. They will provide you with a listing of dentists that provide free and sliding scale services. I am sure that dental schools will be on that list as well.
