How can my friend get the dental care she needs and can't afford?

A friend in Hawaii has had very serious dental issues due to a hereditory condition. Her teeth have been breaking off, becoming infected, etc., but she has had no means to pay for the care she needs. Now she not only has few teeth left, she needs surgery on her jaw as well (and dentures after that). But she has not been able to find help. The infection causes pain, and affects the rest of her health. Any ideas on leads for getting the help she needs?

The local Tech School in my area has a Dental Hygiene School in it also. You pay $5 to get a cleaning and checkup. Now since she has a unique condition, a medical or dental school might like to use your friend to teach students and she gets very cheap dental care. The problem is that since they will be students, they will be slow. It could take several hours.
Reply:try to locate a teaching school for dentist. a dental dept at a teaching college/university. they often will help you for free or at a very reduced rate. they are under the direction of very qualified instructors. good luck in your search
Reply:I'm sorry about your friend's troubles! I am a representative with a dental discount plan that accepts all ongoing conditions. If she signs up before 5 PM on a weekday, she can see a dentist the same day with the membership number that will be emailed to her. We do have providers in Hawaii and she'd save at least 20% on her surgery.

There's a 30 day guarantee, so she could sign up, get her surgery immediately, and then cancel her membership if she couldn't afford to keep it.

I respect the community guidelines, so I don't want to post the link here. However, check out my profile and point your friend to the 'Plans for Families' site.

Good luck!
