What is the best way to help a third world country with dental care?

This is for a project that i have to do to graduate, i'm going to Nicaragua to help people as a dental assistant and have to write a paper about it. please help me!

What is the best way to help a third world country with dental care?
Preventive dentistry. It costs less and and we can get more with prevention. Some suggestions:





Objective1: Educate them (especially the little ones) about proper oral hygiene.





Activities:


. Give them the toothbrush and show them how to use it.


. Give them the floss and show them how to use it.


. Give them the fluoride toothpaste.


. Have them chew on disclosing table and show them the dental plaque





Objective 2. Educate them about eating habit (for example, avoid frequent sugar intake)





Activities:


. Tell them about healthy vegetable diet for adults


. Tell them about the benefit of milk for their child's teeth


. Tell them about how sugar can cause cavities


. Tell them about bottle tooth decay





Objective 3. Educate them about the smoking problems





Activities:


. Advise them about how smoking causes lung cancer


. Advise them about how smoking causes heart attack


. Advise them about how smoking causes bad breath


. Advise them about how smoking cause gum disease


. Advise them about the danger of second-hand smoking


. Advise them about how to get Help for quitting

Reply:If you are already going to Nicaragua, you know more about this than most people! I think the most important thing to do is educate the people about diet and personal care, since these are issues that can be presented to large groups of people and they can be addressed for free. This will help improve their overall health.
Reply:good luck i was just in nicaragua last august. it is hard because some days they don't running water and that could be the least of their worries. I gave a bunch of people there tooth brushes, i don't know what they did with them. just try and educate them on cavities and mouth diseases. overall the people there are nice and will listen.
Reply:Not sure but the good Old USA needs dental care 4 the poor folks here as well.Sure the Third World needs helps to but it should start right in your own back yard I say.
