I am an American visiting England and I need emergency dental care. What do I do?

I don't have any medical insurance and don't qualify for their NHS, but I lost a tooth and am panicked. Do I just fork over the money and hope someone will help me?

you will have to see a private dentist. its not overly expensive though don't worry. look in a local phone book, or go to a NHS dentist surgery, they will give you contact numbers.
Reply:come to australia and we can start from there...
Reply:If you don't have insurance, then you can choose to pay for the care in England or do without. Keeping your teeth is a very good thing and to be encouraged.

Suggestions for someone with no insurance and low income needing dental care in the east central alabama area?

In almost every city there is a school of dentistry or at least in a city near by that has students in there last year of residency. This means they have to perform certain procedures in order to get their degree, I can assure you that what you need done someone needs to complete that procedure. They may pay for it out right or they will discount it so much that it'll seem wrong to only pay that little...

Check with the nearest free clinic, some have dental services and the others will know what programs are available.
Reply:Not sure how far you are from Birmingham, but here is the website for the UAB School of Dentistry. It's an excellent school, considered one of the best in the nation.

Reply:Dental Treatment and Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your dental surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.If you still havent got your surgery done, you are better off getting it done in India.

So in what order are you supposed to do your dental care?

Are you supposed to floss first then brush then use mouthwash?

So in what order are you supposed to do your dental care?
Floss.Brush.Scrape the tongue.Use the mouthwash.
Reply:brush

floss

and before a date(if u have one)

use mouth wash
Reply:Yes. But before it all, scrape the tongue. Oh, and use Listerine, not some mamby-pamby mouthwash that doesn't kill germs.
Reply:My hygienist told me to floss then brush then use mouthwash. Flossing before brushing gets all the food particles that are stuck in your teeth loosened.
Reply:I always tell my patients that its best to floss first, the brush and if you choose to use mouthwash use it last. Most people have a hard time remembering to floss daily, but they remember to brush daily. So if you floss first and then brush, it is more likely that you will floss on a regular(daily) basis. Plus, when you floss it gets all of the plaque out between your teeth where your toothbrush cant reach. Then you can brush and rise the plaque away once you dislodge it with the floss. Hope this helps!

oh and brush your tongue too! :D
Reply:first you use mouthwash, then you brush, then you floss. after all that you scrape your tongue. there is a scraper tool you can buy at walmart to scrape your tongue with. its called a tongue scraper.

Fidel Castro gave his people universal free healthcare, education and dental care. What did Bush do?

Bush cut student aid for needy college students

During the Bush years, the cost of health care has gone up over 30%

During the Bush years, gas has gone up over 120%, but wages have remained stagnant.

Bush has sent thousands of young men to die in a war started on false pretenses.

Just had a baby health visitor says get free dental care til baby 1 what do i do if dentist tryies to charge?

just tell them your rights

or you can alternatively claim the charge on the NHS filling in the form and giving the reasons for the claim

Just had a baby health visitor says get free dental care til baby 1 what do i do if dentist tryies to charge?
Tell the dentist when you book the appointment that you get free dental treatment because your child is under 1 year old. It would be illegal for him to charge you.

Also remember that as long as your course of treatment begins before your childs 1st birthday you will not be charged, even if it's not completed till after that date.

Congrats on the new baby. xx
Reply:u should show your maternity exemption card and they will not charge u.
Reply:In Australia the only way to get free dental care is through the public system, whatever country you live in I would ask the dental receptionist when booking whether or not they use the system you are talking about, better safe than in debt to a dentist for a few grand , good luck with your little one
Reply:a baby under 1 shouldn't need dental treatment if you baby has teething problems used over counter treatment from your local chemist, i.e bonjella, anbisol etc also try a teething ring
Reply:Your Health Visitor is right, you are entitled to free NHS treatment ONLY until your child is one years old.

When you visit the dentist you are required to sign the nhs registration form stating that you have had a baby in the last 12 months, during your pregnancy you may or may not have received a maternity exemption card, it's a small white card similar to a credit card in size, the dentist needs to take the exemption number from this card if you have one, if you don't have one ask your H/V how you go about applying for one.

One this form has been signed you are exempt from all NHS dental charges only, if you opt for any Private treatment you are not exempt and will be required to pay for any treatment that may be needed.

Before you make an appointment with the dentist it might be worth asking if they do actually offer nhs treatment and explain that you have maternity exemption, i have heard stories of some dentists actually charging new mothers as they are private and the maternity exemption doesn't cover them in this case!

Hope this helps
Reply:as long as you are been seen on the NHS he / she can't charge you, before you see the dentist make sure that you sigh a form a which s called FP17.

Once you sigh this you are them happy for your dentist to treat you under the NHS and it also make sure that you mark the box that Say's you have a have under 1 yrs old and you should also have a care that also Say's when you will have to start paying again unless you are on tax credit or some thing along them lines.

Why don't Americans have a free healthcare\dental care system like Britain's NHS?

Can you not afford it?

Why don't Americans have a free healthcare\dental care system like Britain's NHS?
The only way that that any country pays for universal healthcare is to jack up the taxes. As it is, the U.S. is still trying to stick the free market approach instead of becoming socialist, given time, the U.S. may eventually switch over.
Reply:i bet its not free. some one has to pay for it.
Reply:I wish we did, because that would end so much strife over here, I would think. Medical care should be free, or at least not sooooo much.
Reply:We believe in working in this country. If you don't work, you shouldn't expect someone else to take care of you. Not like Europe, where they have those grueling 35 hour work weeks!
Reply:That's a very goood question----I ask it myself often. I'm sure our government can afford it--they just don't do it.

I, for one American, wish they would. It would almost be worth moving to some country that does have it. Thank you for asking the question. It will be interesting to see the responses.
Reply:Americans are held collectively at gun-point by corporations. They claim to be a democracy, but in fact their nation is a corporocracy: a state run by and for corporations. In such an environment, laws that dictate that corporations must always maximize their short-term shareholder profits translate directly into more human misery, and paradoxically far higher medical costs because treatment is vigourously discouraged.

I live in Canada, where universal healthcare is a fact and it costs far less than the American system. Access to universal healthcare has saved my life.
Reply:The fact of the matter is, health and dental care in the United States is a BUSINESS, and a way to make money, not a matter of caring for human beings. Profit is the only thing that matters.

Britain's NHS works beautifully. Yes, it is paid for by TAXES, however the cost of supplying PROFIT to greedy corporations is ELIMINATED, making the OVERALL cost of health care LESS.

I am a parolee in L.A county and free health care and dental care-can you suggest anything?

That’s funny that people are telling you to get a life when that’s what you’re trying to do. Anyway, I’ve included links to the LA free clinic, the County of Los Angeles Department of Health Services, and (this one looks the best) Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. The last link has a way for you to find out whether you are eligible for aid.

Once you have a little money, the least expensive way to get insurance is usually through your job. If you need private insurance, try MostChoice.com.

Good luck,

Is it true that women are entitled to free dental care when pregnant in the U.S.?

I just read an article about it but it may only be in Europe...

Is it true that women are entitled to free dental care when pregnant in the U.S.?
not in the us we dont get anything for free
Reply:Baloney, my friend. I know lots of women use Medicaid with is free health care so I'm sure if they could qualify (low enough income) they could sign up for free dental care, but not most people. Would be a nice perk though, we don't have any pregnancy perks here in the US like many (or all...) European countries.

;-)
Reply:We have a medi-caid system that depends on your income what they cover - if anything at all. Nobody is entitled to care just because they are pregnant. However, if they are poverty level they can get those services paid for. If they are middle class and higher, they are probably going to have to depend on paying for services on their own or by using insurance.
Reply:I have never heard tat but it is very common to have dental issues i spent so much money with my dentist the first 5 months of my prregnancy im sure i paid for the addition on his house. good luck!
Reply:I never heard of it being free before in the US, but it would be nice.
Reply:when you have medicaid (government assistance)...free dental care is only in Europe
Reply:no, dental care is not a "right" it is something that you can pay for. also in case it's not affordable to you, my sister is in dental hygiene school and you can get your teeth cleaned for only $30 and you'll be seen by a dentist too which is much more affordable than actually going to the dentist.
Reply:you cant have dental done if your preg anyways so mabey it is free but the only reason cause you cant use it lol

Is it a good place to go to? I live in Southern Illinois and I need my 4 wisdom teeth pulled. That's the only place that can do it that also takes Medicaid.

Go to the social services dept

Just had a baby health visitor says get free dental care til baby 1 what do i do if dentist tryies to charge?

Make sure that your dentist covers NHS patients and you are down on their books as being one. You should get an NHS Medical Card which you can show to the dental receptionist which proves you are entitled to free care. My baby is 6 years old so check with your Health Visitor if these cards are still issued.

Please realise that Dentists have hundreds of patients who are either pregnant or have a child under 1, so they will deal with it for you.

If you are still worried, give the surgery a ring, explain you are pregnant and ask if you need to bring in proof of pregnancy to gain your free entitlement.

Good luck!

Just had a baby health visitor says get free dental care til baby 1 what do i do if dentist tryies to charge?
They wont its free....

Get all work done now i suggest
Reply:Just say no ive had a baby and i get free dental treatment for a year.
Reply:Ask when you book the appointments.
Reply:They won't. Take along your Medical Exempt certificate if you have it handy (this is what you got when you first registered as pregnant and gets your you free prescriptions also) and if you don't have it just say you've mislaid it and that your have a whatever month old baby. They can check with the Midwife unit if they wish or your Doctors.
Reply:He or she will not try to charge you, don't worry.
Reply:It's only free if your dentist is NHS. If it is private, then you can not use your exemption.
Reply:It is free, but in my experience the dentist will only do work that is absolutely necessary and will try to put off any more expensive work until the year is up. You will have to be very firm.

How did people ever live without eye glasses and dental care?

surely those are more important luxaries than tv and the internet

How did people ever live without eye glasses and dental care?
It's very interesting you would bring these two things up. Eye glasses have been rated the number one most important invention by many historians. The eyeglasses have been around for more than 700 years. Before they were invented, many people had a very hard time reading due to the fact they couldn't see the elaborate calligraphy of the middle ages very well. Glasses helped to increase the literacy rate throughout the world and are incredibly important to society (this includes contacts). Dental care is also incredibly important. Really good dental care was almost impossible to find until about the early 1900's. More people lost their teeth earlier many times by choice due to all the trouble they created. Imagine the pain of a wisdom tooth needing pulling without painkillers! UHHH! Anyway, very good choice of modern conveniences which are essential to modern life.
Reply:The Ancient Egyptians actually had eye surgery to remove cataracts. We just didn't know what they were for until we discovered how to do it. And as for dental care the Ancient Chinese invented tooth brushes. And T.V. and Internet are just addictions we could live without. (joke)
Reply:Well, they suffered. Many people died at an early age from an tooth infection long before antibiotics ever arrived. That is why the average life span has been getting long and longer. Actually, when it came to bad eyesight, they new bent glass (like a magnifying glass) helped a little. But, when they went blind, game over man. They were totally dependent on family.
Reply:The need for both dental care and eyeglasses is almost entirely a product of civilization. Illiterate societies have almost no nearsightedness. Dental cavities don't occur in societies that don't have highly refined foods such as fine-ground flour. The residual problems with eyes and teeth are primarily due to old age, which didn't happen much before agriculture and civilization made it relatively easy to care for nonproductive people.
Reply:....and bathing, deodorant, washing machines, dental floss, toilet paper, toilets......
Reply:Many people several generations ago were blind if they lived long enough. They had vitamin deficiencies, glaucoma and cataracts, without the benefit of ocular care beside maybe magnifying lenses.Dental care is another, more serious problem many people had.A lot of people died from infected teeth without the benefit of antibiotics.Pulling teeth was their only hope.

Give me slogans or a short poem relating to dental care.?

The tooth, the whole tooth, and nothing but the tooth...

Answer: What your dentist wants of you.

Short Poem:

Eat, eat, then brush your teeth

gently with a brush

always remember to swish then with water

and never be in a rush...

Eat, eat, then brush your teeth

daily use some floss

its always better to rinse than to skip

or your teeth you've lost...

Eat, eat, then brush your teeth

regularly after meals

its better to care for them every day

cause otherwise you'll need seals...

Eat, eat then brush your teeth

always before bed

use the mouthwash afterwards

then the germs are dead

Eat, eat then brush your teeth

after breakfast

then they will grow good and strong

and...thus they last

Eat, eat then brush your teeth

regular while you're young

then comes the day when your old friends will say

my dentures bit my tongue...

I hope these will do...I thought of them to the tune of Row, row, row your boat...see the link below for background music..

Happy, thorough brushing...everyone!

Who's at fault for the lack of NHS dental care?

The greedy Dentists? Or the Government?

Who's at fault for the lack of NHS dental care?
It's the government. I can see why people think it's the dentists, and I do agree that private treatment is over-priced. But any dentists that have changed from NHS to private have done so purely because the NHS won't fund for a lot of treatment that dentists want to do, and so the dentists don't feel that they are giving the best level of care to their patients and also feel very restricted to what they can do for them. The government will only fund for very very basic dental care, which often isn't good enough. If a dentist has chosen to see his/her patients privately it is so they can offer an unlimited range of treatment to their patients and, in doing so, become a better dentist. The only thing I do disagree with is how much they sometimes charge. Don't get me wrong; there are a lot of private dentists that are very fair with their charges. But for the ones that aren't, I think they should legally have limits as to what they can charge people.
Reply:The government without a doubt. There are dentists willing to do the work, and that have capacity to do the work...but the government will not pay them to do it!

I have an NHS dentist, although he is in a mainly private practise. The only reason he kept me on was because I have been a patient there for 22 years. my son had "only" been a patient for 18 years so lost his dentist! I am not getting the care I used to, I get check ups and basic work done, but I can no longer see the hygienist free, that would cost me almost a whole week's income!!! So much for improving care on the NHS!

How much more expense is private v NHS dental care?

For

tooth extraction

cleaning

whitening

fillings

thanks

How much more expense is private v NHS dental care?
it depends on the dentist, NHS prices are set and they cant change them but private fees are what ever the dentist wants to charge.

Usually they are based on 3x the NHS cost but as i say if they wanted to charge 5x or 10x they could!!
Reply:A tooth extraction falls into band 2 on the NHS which is £43.60 - this will cover as many extractions that are nesscessary in one course of treatment, private charges for this can be £45+ for 1 tooth. NHS cleans are band 1 which is £15.90 but its a very basic scale, private cleans are extensive and include a polish some start from around £35+ depending on how bad the teeth are. Whitening is not available on the NHS as it is cosmetic, depending on what kind of whitening you have (bleach or lazer) would depend on the costs but its quit expensive. Silver (amalgam) fillings fall into band 2 on the NHS £43.60, which again covers as many as is needed, however white fillings are cosmetic so are private and can range from £50 + per tooth

What is BETTER MOTHWASH OR TOOTHPASTE FOR DAILY DENTAL CARE?

As long as you brush in a correct way the tooth paste isn't very important itself.but there are so many toothpastes in the market .you can choose any of them. note that some of them are made for some special diseases.

And about mouthwash,we do not recommend any daily mouthwash for healthy mouths.its not needed.

Don't forget to floss everyday.

What is BETTER MOTHWASH OR TOOTHPASTE FOR DAILY DENTAL CARE?
I prefer mouthwash over mothwash. The wings of the moths get caught in your teeth sometimes.
Reply:Fill a glass with half - hydrogen peroxide, one quarter Listerine, One quarter hot water. then soak the mouth as long as you can do a few times daily. It's the best.
Reply:toothpaste is more important. Mouthwash is useful only if you are using toothpaste
Reply:Both !! Also daily flossing will help against gingivitis.
Reply:never just use mouth was for the best clean brush 3 times a day for about 3 minutes and 2 times a day use mouthwash and 1 time a day floss. if its whiter teeth ur looking for get some HG Toothmouse it works wonders
Reply:Both brushing your teeth and mouthwash after

the brush are highly recommended. Note, I am

not a dentist nor a salesman and do not pay

attention to any TV ads. I am only a guy who

did not do as mentioned above and regret not

having gone through the routine, and there is

no road back. Also, please visit your dentist

once a year, or whenever in doubt or pain.

Please do not be careless, I know all about

the pain and cost of having been careless.
Reply:DON'T forget to floss %26amp; scrap your tongue too !!
Reply:I've been in the Dental field a long time. Here is what's up.

1. Brushing with or without toothpaste is key for avoiding cavities. The toothpaste simply just provides your teeth with flouride treatment.

2. Mouthwash is a solution for fighting bacteria build up in your mouth.

3. No one or the other alone is better than brushing.

4. Flossing in between your teeth helps fight against cavities forming between your teeth.

5. When using dental products, get the ones with the ADA square on it. These items have been tested and approved by the American Dental Association for safe use.

Where can I get free or low cost dental care?

central florida area only [OcalaOrlando] Need dentures

Where can I get free or low cost dental care?
I have been a dental assistant for 10 yrs. As far as organizations that help with this, no. But I will say, that to get a dentist to do free or low cost dental care, you are going to have to show him why you are more deserving than the last 100 people who asked him the same thing. I know that most people don't realize this, but dentists get asked to do free or low cost dental care all the time. Most dentists will do this alot, but they pick and choose which patients are deserving.

For example, we had a man come into the office. He wasn't even asking for free or low cost work. After asking him alot of questions we found out that he was a single dad of 3 kids. His ex-wife had abandoned all of them 10 yrs or so before and had never helped financially nor had she even seen the kids. We gave him a huge discount on his dental work.

But on the other hand, a woman came in acting like she was better than everyone, had tons of jewelry on, nice clothes, cell phone, the works. The one thing that she didn't have was dental insurance, so she wanted us to give her a huge brake on her dental work, even though it was obvious that if she cut back on some extras in her life that she would have more money to pay for dental work, So we told her "Sorry, we can't help you."

You cant just ask for free dental work in most cases, without proving that you are truely deserving of it.

Does medicaid in the state of florida cover dental care?

It covers dental care for children under the age of 18. It does not cover dental care for adults. However, you will find it difficult to find a dentist that will accept medicaid.

Does medicaid in the state of florida cover dental care?
yes most likely medicaid covers doctor visits, every 2 years for eye exam/glasses, prescriptions, and once a year for dental. but it wouldn't cover cleaning of the teeth. it doesn't cover braces to if your are over 19. check with your local medicaid office,

Is it safe to go to Mexico for dental care?

I can't afford to get my four impacted wisdom teeth removed in the states, and a few people keep telling me to try Mexico. It makes sense because I live so close to the border. It also appears the cost are over 70% less in Tiajuana.

Is it safe to go to Mexico for dental care?
Sorry but that would be too risky for me
Reply:I just saw a new report saying that the mexico dental office will advertise if they hold up to USA standards as well. Just research where you go and it is suppose to be 1/3 of the USA Price.. I would think it was fine.
Reply:Personally, i wouldn't. Tiajuana is not the 'nicest' place in mexico to go. My brother in law is from Mexico and lived there most of his life, recently he had to go to Tiajuana for something and said he had never been so scared to be in his own country. But if your willing and that desperate, i'm sure you can find dentists to do just as good of work, just be sure to do your research first.
Reply:We had a friend who did the same. She was self employed and therefore didn't have dental insurance, so went to a dentist in TJ. If you speak Spanish and know somebody who can give you a reference whom you trust, I say go for it!
Reply:I wouldn't take the chance , you may end up in a brothel somewhere in South America when you wake up, try Canada if cost is an issue. Most Dentists will work out a payment plan with you here also. Good luck
Reply:Have you ever heard the phrase:

You get what you pay for.

What country do you go to for your dental care and how much do you pay?
I don't pay anything, my parents do. But as soon as the day comes when I have to pay my own bills, I'm just going to fly to Canada to go to the dentist-- even with the plane ticket it would still be cheaper than in the US.

Reply:Dental schools often offer work for cheap but you usually have to spend more time at the school to get all your work done compared to a regular dentist, but it is much cheaper and sometimes free. Some areas have community clinics that you can go to, but it can be a long wait to get in.

Reply:We have a credit card that is accepted by many dentists. You could use one of the state-approved dentists that accepts the card and pay only $10 to $20 per month against a $100 or more bill. It is called Care Credit and is available at www.carecredit.com - hope this helps. If you are on disability income, the limit may be low, but it would at least help.

Are bleeding gums a sign of poor dental care or gingivitus?

Yes, this is usually a sign of gingivitis which is the 1st stage of periodontal disease. It is also an indication of poor oral hygiene. Make sure to brush reguarly (2-3) times per day for at least 2 minutes with a soft toothbrush and also make sure to floss at least once a day. You will notice that as you begin to do this on a regular basis that the bleeding will stop and the gums will become healthy again. However, the first step you need to take is to get in to see your dentist for a cleaning and an evaluation and make sure you continue to see your dentist every 6 months for regular check-ups.

Are bleeding gums a sign of poor dental care or gingivitus?
both
Reply:yes it a sign of gum desease. i have that same problem gingivitus.
Reply:Yes, both. Fortunately, if you continue brushing and flossing, your gums will get healthier and the bleeding should stop. If not, be sure to schedule an appointment with a dentist.
Reply:floss and your gums well get stronger and won't bleed
Reply:it is a sign of poor dental care and it could be gingivitus. its important that you floss EVERYDAY and use mouth wash.
Reply:Until you can see a dentist you can gargle with peroxide and brush with baking soda. This will stop the bleeding some and freshen you breath. Make sure you DO NOT SWALLOW the peroxide.
Reply:Yes this is usually the sign...the way to fix it is to brush as regular as possible, focusing on holding your tooth brush angled up. Half on your gums and half on your teeth, using small circles massage your gums. The only way to get your gums to stop bleeding is to floss! It hurts at first because when your gums bleed that means their "sick" After a couple of days of flossing they will start to calm down and bleed less. Some doctors don't agree with this part but swishing with listerine everyday after you brush and floss helps clean out all the bacteria between your teethh that causes them to bleed. So brush, floss, then swish...everyday!
Reply:Maybe you are lacking vitamin C,ascorbic acid.
Reply:YES IT IS!!!

You may want to see if there is a dental college close to where you live. They sometimes offer discounted rates, especially if your case is unusual.
Reply:type in "dental insurance" in google. there's company's that provide just dental insurance w/o having a health insurance plan. dental insurance is usually fairly inexpensive.

look in the yellow pages, govt pages for ANY health clinic in your area. Then call them and ask if they do dental as well, or can tell you where to find low cost dental.

Otherwise, you may need to travel to the closest dental college. These are usually a real pain, taking as many as 5 visits to do one root canal.

What is the best order for good dental care and why - floss, brush, water pic?

Does the order of these activities matter for optimum cleaning of teeth?

What is the best order for good dental care and why - floss, brush, water pic?
THE KEY AND CORRECT ANSWER IS ANY OF THESE MUST BE DONE PROPERLY. HOWEVER, IF FOR EXAMPLE, THE PATIENT HAS POCKETING GREATER THAN 3mm THEN FLOSSING IS INEFFECTIVE BECAUSE THE GEOMETRY ABOUT FLOSSING DOESN'T ALLOW IT TO BENDTO REACH AND CLEAN THE BOTTOMOF THE POCKET. A AN ORAL IRRIAGATOR SUCH AS A WATERPIK IA BEST SUITED FOR THIS.
Reply:It really doesn't matter what order you do these in what matters is that you take the time to do each of the effectively. Brushing should take about 2 minutes (30 seconds for each quadrant). Floss until you hear the floss squeak on your clean teeth and irrigate with the waterpik until everything feels clean.
Reply:Not really, just as long as you do them. Certain people have certain preferences. Text book answer is floss, brush. then mouth rinse. But is seriously does not matter. You can use water pic in place of flossing if you prefer.
Reply:You could floss, use the water pic and then brush, because if you brush your teeth before flossing, then you will have little peaces of food in your mouth, and at the end use a good mouth wash, if you heve caries you could use ACT I (has fluoride) at nigth and listerine in the morning.

How to live in Tunisia, costs? med/dental care? Can you homeschool?

I am thinking of moving to Tunisia. I am American and have 1 american daughter and 1 1/2 tunisian daughter--us cit. I am divorced from a tunisian. How much to rent something decent like in Monistir or Mahdia? how much do I need per month to make it? Can I teach English from my home? Can I homeschool my kids? As a woman alone, will I be safe? Thanks for any input!!! I am a Muslim revert as well. I wear hijab.

How to live in Tunisia, costs? med/dental care? Can you homeschool?
I am an American who is married to a Tunisian and we live in Monastir. Monastir isn't the cheapest of towns to live in, housing wise, but if you really look, especially during the off season (fall and winter) you can find some really nice homes for cheap. I have a friend whose mom is renting a cute two bedroom, 1 bath, with a patio for only 200 Dinars a month. As for housing in Mahdia, I don't know how expensive it is, but imagine it would be close to that of Monastir because both are touristic towns.

You can definately teach English from your home to get some income. Spread the word by taking out an ad in the paper, having friends tell others of your servies, and if you're friendly with your ex, have him help you in the endevor.

Under Tunisian law, you cannot homeschool. I wanted to do that with my kids, but when we checked into it, it is not permitted. Every child MUST attend a state run school, or their parents will be put in jail. This law came into effect when Bourguiba was president. He wanted to make sure that all children got an education and therefor imposed a jail sentance for any parent who kept their children from attending. As of yet, Tunisian law does not recognize homeschooling as a valid form of education.

As a women, you will be safe in Monastir. I someimes take walks at 10pm at night by myself and nothing has happened to me. You may get a few men telling you that you are pretty or something like that, but just ignore them and continue on your way.

As for medical and dental costs, it all depends on the situation and where you go. For example, a regular pedatricians visit costs 25 dinars. The family doctor I go to for my husband and I, charges only 15 dinars a visit. Then you have to pay the costs of the medication, which those prices vary depending on what is wrong with you. Dental costs are usually about 25 dinars a visit, or more if you have work done. If there is an emergency, the hospital is a flat 10 dinar fee, but you will wait there for hours from the time you get there until the time you are discharged. If you go to the Clinique, the price is 30 dinars flat fee, and if you have your own doctor come, they may charge an additional fee.

If you ever do move to Monastir, look me up and I can tell you the best doctors, dentist, radiology lab, blood lab, and other things about living there. Hope this was some help to you!
Reply:I don't know but maybe you could talk to your ex??

Here are some websites that could help you. Good luck to you and your family.

Would PhD students be entitled to free dental care on the NHS (UK)?

I'm a little confused about the details... can someone fill me in please?

Would PhD students be entitled to free dental care on the NHS (UK)?
I'm not sure whether you qualify automatically, but you could phone 0845 850 1166 and ask them to send you a HC1 form. You fill this in with details of your income and what important expenses you have to pay such as rent, council tax etc. If you qualify for full help you will be sent an HC2 certificate (which lasts for 1 year) which entitles you to free prescriptions, free NHS dental care and more. If you don't qualify for full help you might be able to get reduced rates. If you're not sure, it's always worth applying, they can only say you qualify or don't. It is especially worth calling them if you are trying to survive on a student loan.
Reply:I guess it depends on how you are funded but in general I would say no.
Reply:No. You are entitled to free NHS dental treatment up to the age of 19 if you are in full time education. After that you'll have to put your hand in your pocket.
Reply:nope sorry ull have to pay
Reply:I think up to 19 as long as you are in full time education your entitled to free treatment after that you have to pay the NHS fees unless you are on certain benefits, pregnant or a nursing mother.

I am a private nurse so am not 100% sure!

Should my boyfriend leave the country for dental care?

My boyfriend needs major work done, here it would cost like $15,000,A friend told him in the Phillipines it would be only $1500 plus flight expense, and no way to get insurance here.Is it worth it and safe?

Should my boyfriend leave the country for dental care?
I'm a dentist.

You know, I hear comments like yours a lot and I really feel sorry for patients who end up pursuing dental work out of the country in order to save money. It's very telling about their perception of the dental profession and the importance of their oral health. To them, dentistry is nothing more than fancy high-priced carpentry, and the measures they'd take to ensure the best medical care for themselves are not applied to their dental care.

While doctors (of any health profession) can vary in competence, they nonetheless all have to matriculate through a system with very stringent standards. Practicing dentistry in this country is not easy. Dental school is very difficult to get into (almost as difficult as getting into medical school). Students spend four years learning vast amounts of information and practicing on patients. Dental schools are well-funded, didactic and clinical courses are taught by experienced faculty, and students are exposed to many of the advances in the profession (although most of the clinical training is focused on core skills). Every school submits to inspections for accreditation.

In order to be eligible for licensure, dental students (and graduates) must take the NBDE exams parts I and II, which are ruthlessly gruelling exams that cover enormous amounts of material. Fail one of these exams, and you are ineligible for licensure. To receive licensure in a specific state (or group of states), clinical licensing exams are taken where the practitioner's skills are evaluated on live patients. Again, the scrutiny is ruthless.

Dentists in this country are better than they are anywhere else in the world, and they are more accessible--whether they're a general practitioner or a specialist--not only because of the fact that they happen to reside in the same country as you, but because dentistry in this country is also very "customer-service" oriented.

What's particularly sad about patients who go elsewhere for dental care is how naive they are. Dentistry is not plastic surgery where a botched nose-job is instantly known. Very few poorly-done dental procedures fail in less than a year's time. You'll be thousands of miles away from you Phillipino doctor if/when you have problems with your work--whether it's one year of five years later.

And I can assure you that when you see a dentist in America to fix the work you had done in the phillipines, he/she will not "cut you a deal" on the fees because you're having the work re-done.
Reply:you get what you pay for...

thats all im going to say
Reply:No !!!
Reply:I wouldnt, stay here
Reply:what kind of major work it is? replacement? new teeth? arrangement? fillings? cosmetic surgery? well, just go abroad, take it as holiday though. USD15000 is too much, i heard dental care is so expensive in state, europe and hongkong. come to singapore, it should be cheaper here.
Reply:well he should state and the reason is because go to philipine it might cost more than 20,000 dollars and the reason is because the flights, the food, hotel(if he doesnt have any house to state with), souvenirs, and others staff like that, but you could he could go to Mexico which is almost the same and it is more cheap, and you could leave right oh way
Reply:they use sticks and rocks as dental tools and dont wash thier hands after toileting
Reply:Dont always go for the cheapest price. Your teeth is not nothing you want to play with. What if they mess them up really bad(worst then they are now) then what. I wouldnt do it.
Reply:I don't know about quality there, but many euros go to Hungary. They reportedly have excellent dental schools and the cost is less than 25% of US prices.

Would PhD students be entitled to free dental care on the NHS (UK)?

Would PhD students be entitled to free dental care on the NHS (UK)?
NHS exemptions are only usually given to low income families or the disabled. If you are legally single and on a low income due to your studying you maybe able to apply for an discount and be able to claim back a percentage of NHS treatments or perscrptions. You can do this by obtainig an HC1 from your local Job Centre PLus or Dentist/Doctors Surgery/Opticans
Reply:Not if they are PhD students but appear to be a bit stupid!
Reply:It's unlikely as the NHS will only give full time students free treatment up to the age of 19. After that you can apply for reduced charges, ask at the doctors but unsure if you would qualify.
Reply:Free NHS treatment is given to international students provided that:

1. their courses are for more than 12 months' duration and

2. they attend full-time courses for 15 hours a week or more.

Full-time PhD students must obtain a letter from their university that confirms the two above points. Students then take that letter to register with a doctor and dentist. However, doctors and dentists have the right to refuse new NHS applications. If this happens, the students should request their universities to apply to their local NHS Primary Care Trust to be allocated to a doctor and dentist and they cannot then refuse to take the students.

I hope this helps.
Reply:No, as PhD students are not on Income Support. You'll have to think of another way to get your teeth sorted!

Why are Prison inmates guaranteed free medical /dental care while our Elderly are not?

That's the Republican plan for health care. Go to jail to get it.

Why are Prison inmates guaranteed free medical /dental care while our Elderly are not?
Good question! I don't know...I also don't know why some members of the GOP whoi feel it is not the government's responsibility to provide healthcare, don't drop THEIR helthcare, funded by my tax dollars. Pretty screwed up, and a good argument for universal healthcare
Reply:Because liberals have created it that way. The same reason they want illegal aliens to have it. To bankrupt America.
Reply:I suppose Granny could hold up a Seven-11
Reply:Prisoners aren't guaranteed any health care, if they are not incarcerated over a year. Prisoner's can wait at the least, 2 years to get any care, if their medical issue is not life threatening. The doctors they have suck, too. I would rather be an elderly person paying my way medically, than a prisoner, any day.
Reply:Those of us that are locked up have no means to care for themselves so "society" takes care of them. As a Christian nation we are a poor example of taking care of the needy. We take better care of the greedy/undeserving and it's sad.
Reply:excellent question, we have to care for them or let them go , whod want to see a prison doctor though? Our care of the elderly and disabled and our vets is a national disgrace!
Reply:the 8th amendment.

but their care is normally substandard and they normally aren't treated until they complain for a long time.

I think we need universal health care

Is this too much for son's dental care?

6 cavities (1st dentist only saw 4), dentist wants to crown since they said he shows signs of grinding his teeth at night, all baby teeth $250 each. Also 1 additional cavity, infection has spread to nerve, they don't want to do a root canal, they'd rather pull it and put in a bridge total cost for dentist not including out-patient hospital bill $2742. In my defense my son has autism, he doesn't just sit around and eat candy all day, it's just not the easiest to get in their and brush and floss.

When I was in college I needed alot of dental work but could not afford insurance and needed it ASAP. I did some research and found this plan.

I signed up with them online about 3 years ago now. They are very affordable, had my benefits active in 2 hours and saved me literally thousands of dollars without limits or deductibles. Now that I am able to afford insurance, I still this plan when I max out my deductible on my insurance. I know for a fact that all services are included ex: Including cleanings, exams, x-rays ..etc. Check to see if its availible in your area.

Good Luck and Hope this Helps.
Reply:You may want to get a second opinion; however, primary teeth are very important. They are space holders for the adult teeth. If they come out too early then the adult teeth may have trouble coming in straight.
Reply:i understand. if you have a kid with autism then it can be hard to brush their teeth. well.... if your kid didn't have autism then i would say to just leave the crown and get a night guard but it may be hard to get the night guard in there. it may seem expensive but i have braces and it cost more than that. so i'd do that but if they want to do anything else then you may want to consider other options.

Hope i helped you.
Reply:how old is your son?

i would say that it is a waste to get the baby teeth crowned, especially if they are going to fall out soon anyways.

the bridge thing... i don't know anything about it, but if i were you, I would get a 2nd (or would it be the 3rd?) opinion

also, is your dental insurance (assuming you have some) going to help cover this?

good luck.
Reply:Wow...all that work on baby teeth? I'd get a second opinion. Cavities needs to be taken care of but crowns and bridges for teeth that are going to fall out soon? if you haven't reached out for help, you may want to contact some Autism support groups. I'm not familiar with this (my son has ADHD) but surely there must be some ideas to get the teeth brushed. At this rate, this kid will have no adult teeth after years. Maybe more frequent visits to the dentist would help? Good luck!
Reply:each cavity depending on how many surfaces it is can range from $150 to $250 and if its a stainless steel crown since it is a baby tooth your looking around $275 or so. Now if its an adult tooth and it needs a crown about $1000. And a bridge? And again only if its an adult tooth that is being extracted they should be putting a bridge but if its a baby tooth ur getting screwed hope it helps
Reply:Definitely get another opinion! sounds like someone besides you is trying to dig deeply into your pockets. Ask around for the name of a reputable dentist. Word by mouth goes a long way.

If he ends up getting a tooth pulled, then yes he might need a spacer, depending on how long before the second tooth comes in. I wouldn't think crowns would be necessary as they are baby teeth.

Even with all the responses here, the best thing to do is get another professional opinion!
Reply:I feel for you. Keep calling around and asking different Dentist offices their prices (they seem to vary a lot) and get as many consultations as you can. I know you want to get your sons teeth taken care of soon but you have to feel comfortable with the Dentist. I got a loan for my dental work @ Capital One @ 6.9% but I have pretty good credit. Take a look and talk to them. Good luck.

As the US always boasts about its dental care why do thier serial killers always have crooked teeth ?

No cheeky answers or I will be over the there to kick some butt!!

As the US always boasts about its dental care why do thier serial killers always have crooked teeth ?
Why is this even a topic of discussioN?? Dental care is not like medical care - not everyone has it. It seems that you almost have to be middle class now to even be able to get dental care. Plus these guys in prison might never had dental care before, why give it to them now? No way should a serial killer have better teeth than the common man. Sure fix their absesses (?), cavities, etc. - but don't whiten their teeth or straighten them!
Reply:Dental care is a choice.
Reply:There is a difference between HAVING IT and REQUIRING everyone use it.

i think that is the biggest issue that i have with her... i don't think anyone should be FORCED into paying for medical and dental!! we have ENOUGH already!! property taxes that we can't afford, car registration, high insurance rates due to all the bad drivers out there... we even have to pay $95 a year to license our dog!!! what the h*ll is that!!! i think health care should be OPTIONAL! we pay enough! after housing and taxes and everything, where is the money going to come from to pay for this??

some of her other plans aren't that great either... i think it's great that she's running and all, but let's face it, america isn't ready for a female president... at least not in this time of war! and after she undoes bush's tax cuts, we are REALLY gonna be screwed royally!!!!!!!
Reply:According to Obama's health plan, 15mil. ppl will be left out in the cold, driving up costs for the rest of us, in insurance. Oh, well, nobody's perfect, si?
Reply:OMG an informed voter, good bless you. Under her plan she will force people who cant afford health care to pay for it. Makes no sense what so ever. Hillary supporters like to talk about her experience. Yes, it is true she has experience trying to push this ridiculous health plan when her husband was president and it did not work then so why would it work now.
Reply:ain't that a *****...for families who cant afford a decent home to be forced to buy medical insurance while the illegal aliens are receiving FREE medical care...ain't that stupid?
Reply:Health care... NOT dental care

gees

dental is not in the plan

but yes...it is mandated.

it will come out of your paycheck
Reply:"The legislation also improves access to private coverage and expands access to benefits like mental health and dental coverage. Some of you have heard me tell the story about the young boy living in Maryland whose mother wasn't on Medicaid, wasn't on CHIP, was struggling to get some kind of health care coverage for her children when her 12-year-old son came down with a toothache. And Medicaid and CHIP don't cover dental care in many cases anyway. So, even though she got onto coverage, she couldn't find a dentist who was available to actually provide the dental care. Her son continued to complain. The toothache turned into an abscess; the abscess broke. Next thing you know, the little boy is in the emergency room and being admitted to the hospital. But because the poison had already spread into his bloodstream, he had to be put on life support and Deamonte didn't make it. So for the lack of a visit to a dentist -- might have cost $80 to $85 -- a little boy lost his life. So expanding access to mental health and dental coverage is absolutely critical."

http://www.senate.gov/~clinton/news/stat...

So it appears she does want to include dental in her mandatory health insurance.

However, she does claim that she wants to subsidize those who can't afford care.

BUT, and this is a huge but, if she's going to add dental (which is not covered by most health insurance plans) that is going to add a HUGE sum to the costs of health insurance and you know who is going to have to foot the bill for that one.

What is the best toothbrush or dental care system to use with braces?

My 9 y/o daughter got braces and I want to make sure that her teeth are getting cleaned properly. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What is the best toothbrush or dental care system to use with braces?
Sonicare is especially recommended for someone with braces.

Sonicare Elite is my top choice. There are many different model designations, but the "motors" are all pretty much the same. The kits are different because they pack different accessories. Some have two brush heads and some have four. Some have a travel bag and some have a wall-mount charger instead of a counter top charger.

Just read the label carefully and buy what you need. Bear in mind that you will have to replace the brush heads about every six months, so see if it is cheaper to buy a few extra brush heads in one of the kits.

Otherwise, buy a Sonicare, read and follow the directions. The directions are very clear and easy to understand.

If you want to try a Sonicare without taking out a loan, I've got good news for you. I just bought one for THIRTY DOLLARS. It uses two "AA" batteries, so you are not paying for a charger, etc. I have no idea how long the batteries last (yet), but $70 would buy a boat load of batteries. It seems to be equally effective as the rechargeable version with the new batteries.
Reply:you can find a special toothbrush for braces in supermarket, drug store or dental store, the shape is made special for teeth with braces... it will surely clean the teeth your kid. and dont forget to visit dentist @ least once a month ^_^ gud luck
Reply:oral-b has a special toothbrush for braces. you can also use those water jet or water picks to clean around braces, but it must not substitute the toothbrushing. =)

My health insurence does not have dental care?

so how much do you think it would be to have both bottom impacted wisdom teeth pulled?

My health insurence does not have dental care?
It's not uncommon for people to have health insurance but not have the dental coverage. In that instance there is a company called Ameriplan that fits very well with what you already have and can save you money on your dental needs.

It's $19.95 a month for dental, vision, rx and chiropractic services. And just by doing a brief check of our fee schedules ( it will ultimately depend on where you live) but on average, the cost to have an impacted wisdom tooth removed can range from $115-160 by using the Ameriplan discount.

You can take a look at the plans on this site http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/40398854 Please call me for details of if you have any questions.

I sure hope this helps you!
Reply:I am going to have to say around four hundred dollars. I say that because, I had one pulled and it was about two hundred and thirty dollars.
Reply:Approximately $150 -$350 for each tooth if it is fully erupted in the jaw.

Extracting a partially or completely impacted wisdom tooth ranges from $350 -$650.
Reply:You may want to consider a dental discount plan, like Ameriplan or Careington(more affordable). You could also contact your local dental society and request the names of dentists that provide free, low cost or sliding scale fee services to patients. The list will include local dental schools and public hospitals that provide free or low cost services. Most states have a dental society. Some counties and cities have them, as well. Call the American Dental Association to verify the name of your dental society.
Reply:Can vary quite a bit--maybe as little a couple of hundred total for both; could be closer to $800.

BTW, dental is rarely included in ANY insurance plan and is NEVER included in any UHC--universal health care. Won't hear Hillary and others admit that, but Britain, Canada, France, etc. NOT INCLUDED.

Good luck--shop around and check on this if you don't have a lot of bucks:

Health Centers provide health and dental care to people of all ages, whether or not they have health insurance or the money to pay for health care.

Consider a clinic attached to a dental school OR community college that teaches dental hygiene. The students work WITH dentists on real folks.

Any government grants for DESPERATELY needed dental care?

I am a 36 year old who is considered "low income" and desperately need some dentures or implants or something. VERY painful to eat and have lost my self esteem since the smallest of conversations reveals snaggle tooth.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME!

Any government grants for DESPERATELY needed dental care?
The Government has created a portal to help individuals who need benefits because of life events. Visit http://www.govbenefits.gov

Use the drop down button

DO YOU NEED BENEFITS BECAUSE OF A LIFE EVENT?

Choose the life situation best applicable to you and then see if you qualify for the available government assistance.

Forget grant money - there's hardly any money for individuals and for dental assistance. You can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support your purposes.

Even if you buy books on "how to get grants" or list that supposedly has information on grants -- all of them are mere rehash of what CFDA has, albeit packaged differently. But still the info is the same - hardly any grants for getting your dental problems fixed.

Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT - Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program

Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs

You can try going to your county health center and ask them what assistance they can give you for your dental problems.
Reply:come to Poland, our prices in National Health Care are very low, i'm sure you'll find good care for a small money
Reply:No grants that I know of. If you can afford $11.95 a mos for dental discount benefits send me a line and I let you know how to get the benefits frog2dollar@yahoo.com

Where can my mom get adult dental care on medicaid in southern Illinois?

She lives in Newton, IL (62448) and can't find anyone who will do dentist work on her with medicaid. She lives in a small town and can't find a dentist or eye doctor that accepts medicaid. Where can she find a provider listing? Like I said it's small town and her caseworker is useless, he doesn't know. He's the only caseworker in the town.

She has worked her entire life, and is now in the end stages of cancer, and can't work, and isn't old enough to be eligible for medicare, so she is on medicaid.

She has very bad teeth and want's to just get them all pulled.

Where can my mom get adult dental care on medicaid in southern Illinois?
The case worker is not doing her job - I might even report her. She should know where to get this info. First - go to the phone directory or call the 1 800 5551212 and ask for the Medicaid hotline for the state of Illinois - and ask for a list of the nearest providers to your town...unfortunately as she lives in a small town - she may have to travel many miles to a big town to get a provider who'll pull her teeth - or for eye care - I'm on Medicaid too and have to travel far on a bus to see my dentist as I'm low income, I used to be a nurse , but can't do that work anymore... best wishes , sorry about your Mom..
Reply:Medicaid should be able to refer your mother to participating dentists. If not, use the phone book or 1-800-dentist for a list of dentists to call and find out if they take medicaid.
Reply:She needs to call every dentist in town and see who she can find. She needs to explain her situation and see if someone will help her out.

How can i get some free Dental care.and iam a veitnam vetran?
Is there a VA hospital in your area? When I was in dental hygiene school, one of our rotations was in a VA hospital. You can get all your dental care done there.
Reply:You need to go to a Va hospital and have your teeth checked
Reply:go to a dental college, they will practice for free.
Reply:Are there any dental schools in your area? They sometimes offer free or low cost work. Check out free clinics, too; they sometimes offer dental.
Reply:My brother went to the VA.
Reply:I am assuming that you have been to the VA hospital.. not that I am a great fan of VA hospitals... The ONLY thing that I could suggest is that you contact them to see if there is any way to get "free" dental care. I have NO OTHER solution.. Sorry

Has anyone gone to Mexico for dental care? Is it worth the trip to save some money or is it pandoras box?

The schooling requirements in Mexico are far less standardized than those in the United States. Also, Mexico doesn't have nearly as strict guidelines for sterilization and disinfection proceedures. Sure, you could save some money, but you could encounter far more and worse problems if you get dental work done there.

Has anyone gone to Mexico for dental care? Is it worth the trip to save some money or is it pandoras box?
they're your teeth. treat them well or not.
Reply:no bc they dont do it hygenically
Reply:Its insane, you have no idea if the dentist is for real?
Reply:well, is it for a filling or root canal? your teeth are pretty important part of your body, like your eyes and heart. so its worth it to get them fixed. no matter what you do though, it will be better than what they used to do 100 years ago! what DID they do????
Reply:I wouldn't. I did and woke up without my car keys, passport and cash was missing, and I was lying in a tub of ice with a fresh incision in my abdomen and some crude stitches....they took my spleen and sold it on the black market of illegal organ sales......I still went home with an impacted MOLAR!

What overseas country has the best dental care?

I can only assume that you are asking this question because you are considering seeking dental care abroad. Any non-third world country can have dentists providing excellent care. The only question I would ask is, how in the world are you going to find out which dentist in any foreign country is right for you? It's hard enough for people to find a good dentist in their own neighborhood where they can get recommendations from friends and co-workers. What are you going to do if you have trouble with your dental services six months after you return to the states?

QUITE SERIOUSLY, two of my favorite and seemingly best qualified dental instructors in school were from overseas. One was from Iraq and the other from Iran. FAR from Iraq and Iran, as they were practicing in the USA, but they were trained in their homelands. You just can't say what country has the best dentists as a blanket statement.

If I have misunderstood your intentions, please accept my apology and ignore my answer.

What overseas country has the best dental care?
I wish you the best of luck. Since wits6thyear mentioneded it, one of the earliest guys I know to get involved in the cosmetic stuff came from South Africa. He's been in Philly for the past 30 years, but I believe he was trained in South Africa. Report It

Where can I go for indigent dental care?

I am unemployed and have no insurance. Today, about a third of a molar broke off. Now it is rubbing my tounge and I want to just have it yanked out.

Where can I go for indigent dental care?
You may be qualified for some type of aid, like medicaid. If not, then google the list of dentist in your area and call them to ask how much it might be. Most will want to examine you before they tell you a price on pulling. If it broke off in the gums and its too difficult then you may need an oral surgeon. Only an x-ray can tell.

Some charity hospitals handle this type of thing to if you dont mind waiting serveral hours to be seen
Reply:health department will help you.

xo

good luck
Reply:If you live near a college or university that has a dentistry program they often offer low-price or free dental treatment in their clinics. Good luck!
Reply:Contact your local dental society. Type the name of your state or closet city, "Atlanta Dental Society", "Indianapolis Dental Society". They will give you the names of dentists in your area that provide free and sliding scale services.

Can any one recommend a good dental care office near Antioch ca or north bay area?

Try Dr. Levin (Levine?) in Stockton if he is still in practice. An oral surgeon. Big man with a very gentile touch and does great work. Also keeps (or used to) evening hours for the working stiff.

I don't live there.

What does class 2 mean for dental care?
This sounds like some sort of designation that your insurance provider uses; I'd contact them to find out.
Reply:class 2 means a type of carie (cavity). this is the surface that the decay is on.
Reply:I depends on what it is referring to. Often, it is referring to a cavity and how deep it is. However, it can also be referring to how your bite fits together. In the future, if you have a question at your dental visit, just ask! Usually you cant get us dental types to shut up about teeth.
Reply:This is a classification of the type and location of the cavity. In this case it would be on either a molar or premolar and is located on the surface that butts up against another tooth. The preparation to fill this would also involve the chewing surface.
Reply:A class 2 malocclusion is the way your teeth come together, they are referring to your bite, has nothing to do with a cavity. There are class 1, class 2 and class 3 bites. In class 2 the upper arch protrudes out more than the lower jaw. This is the meaning in orthodontics anyway.
