Are bleeding gums a sign of poor dental care or gingivitus?

Yes, this is usually a sign of gingivitis which is the 1st stage of periodontal disease. It is also an indication of poor oral hygiene. Make sure to brush reguarly (2-3) times per day for at least 2 minutes with a soft toothbrush and also make sure to floss at least once a day. You will notice that as you begin to do this on a regular basis that the bleeding will stop and the gums will become healthy again. However, the first step you need to take is to get in to see your dentist for a cleaning and an evaluation and make sure you continue to see your dentist every 6 months for regular check-ups.

Reply:Yes, both. Fortunately, if you continue brushing and flossing, your gums will get healthier and the bleeding should stop. If not, be sure to schedule an appointment with a dentist.
Reply:floss and your gums well get stronger and won't bleed
Reply:it is a sign of poor dental care and it could be gingivitus. its important that you floss EVERYDAY and use mouth wash.
Reply:Until you can see a dentist you can gargle with peroxide and brush with baking soda. This will stop the bleeding some and freshen you breath. Make sure you DO NOT SWALLOW the peroxide.
Reply:Yes this is usually the sign...the way to fix it is to brush as regular as possible, focusing on holding your tooth brush angled up. Half on your gums and half on your teeth, using small circles massage your gums. The only way to get your gums to stop bleeding is to floss! It hurts at first because when your gums bleed that means their "sick" After a couple of days of flossing they will start to calm down and bleed less. Some doctors don't agree with this part but swishing with listerine everyday after you brush and floss helps clean out all the bacteria between your teethh that causes them to bleed. So brush, floss, then swish...everyday!
Reply:Maybe you are lacking vitamin C,ascorbic acid.
Reply:YES IT IS!!!
