Just had a baby health visitor says get free dental care til baby 1 what do i do if dentist tryies to charge?

Make sure that your dentist covers NHS patients and you are down on their books as being one. You should get an NHS Medical Card which you can show to the dental receptionist which proves you are entitled to free care. My baby is 6 years old so check with your Health Visitor if these cards are still issued.

Please realise that Dentists have hundreds of patients who are either pregnant or have a child under 1, so they will deal with it for you.

If you are still worried, give the surgery a ring, explain you are pregnant and ask if you need to bring in proof of pregnancy to gain your free entitlement.

Good luck!

They wont its free....

Get all work done now i suggest
Reply:Just say no ive had a baby and i get free dental treatment for a year.
Reply:Ask when you book the appointments.
Reply:They won't. Take along your Medical Exempt certificate if you have it handy (this is what you got when you first registered as pregnant and gets your you free prescriptions also) and if you don't have it just say you've mislaid it and that your have a whatever month old baby. They can check with the Midwife unit if they wish or your Doctors.
Reply:He or she will not try to charge you, don't worry.
Reply:It's only free if your dentist is NHS. If it is private, then you can not use your exemption.
Reply:It is free, but in my experience the dentist will only do work that is absolutely necessary and will try to put off any more expensive work until the year is up. You will have to be very firm.
