How much more expense is private v NHS dental care?
it depends on the dentist, NHS prices are set and they cant change them but private fees are what ever the dentist wants to charge.

Usually they are based on 3x the NHS cost but as i say if they wanted to charge 5x or 10x they could!!
Reply:A tooth extraction falls into band 2 on the NHS which is £43.60 - this will cover as many extractions that are nesscessary in one course of treatment, private charges for this can be £45+ for 1 tooth. NHS cleans are band 1 which is £15.90 but its a very basic scale, private cleans are extensive and include a polish some start from around £35+ depending on how bad the teeth are. Whitening is not available on the NHS as it is cosmetic, depending on what kind of whitening you have (bleach or lazer) would depend on the costs but its quit expensive. Silver (amalgam) fillings fall into band 2 on the NHS £43.60, which again covers as many as is needed, however white fillings are cosmetic so are private and can range from £50 + per tooth
