Anyone know where to find dental care in KY for low income child?

My daughter (lives with Dad), has no insurance. Just found out she's gonna need all four wisdom teeth removed and dentist says will cost 3000.00 to be paid in advance. Any clinics (free?) in central part of the state ( she's in Madison County ) step grandmother they live with makes too much money for them to qualify for medicare.

Anyone know where to find dental care in KY for low income child?
I had problems getting dental care at an affordable price at one point, so I know what you're going through and I know the physical pain your daughter is enduring. I ended up going to a dental school and a student worked on me and eventually went to a regular dentist. Try to find a free clinic in the area or the surrounding area. Some of them offer dental care at a much lower (or maybe even nothing) cost for those who qualify, and it's important to help your daughter soon. I don't know anything about KY or its counties, but I tried to find a clinic with the info you gave, and all I found that might be helpful is this:

"WHEREAS, there are currently eight registered charitable health care providers within this Commonwealth: Angels Community Clinic, Free Clinic of Owensboro, Grace Medical Clinic, St. Luke Free Clinic, St. Nicholas Family Clinic, Madison County Detention Center, St. Joseph Mobile Health Service, and Helping Hands Clinic."

I know all it says specifically about Madison County is the detention center, but do you think you might be eligible for any of the clinics mentioned?

I also found more free clinics in KY mentioned here:

Other info that might help:

"July 26…The Caldwell County Free Clinic opens at 5 p.m. Thursday in the basement of Central Presbyterian Church."

Call the clinics and ask them if you and/or your daughter are eligible. Hopefully that works and they offer some dental services. If the free clinic idea doesn't work, try a dental school. If that doesn't work, then try to contact the dentists in your area to see if they are willing to offer discounts. Good luck.

*EDIT: Maybe you can start by contacting the Madison County Health Department - the phone numbers are here:

I also found this link for the Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program (KCHIP):

"Our mission is to provide health insurance coverage to low income, uninsured children in Kentucky.

KCHP staff knows that access to health care is very important in maintaining good health. We also know that prevention is a big part of health care. Immunizations, well child checkups and other preventive services provided through KCHIP help children get healthy and stay healthy."

The "Benefits" link (on the right) on that page includes dental services.

Hope that helps.
Reply:You can call around to dental offices in the area to see who takes payment arrangements. If you explain that you have a certain percentage to make as a down payment, they may work with you.

Another option is to apply for either CareCredit (like a credit card for dental work, monthly payments are made; the maximum amount is based on salary/credit score) or Capital One, which finances dental work. Last time I checked, the first year is offered with 0% interest. Most dental offices have the applications available in-office.

She may be able to be covered by CHIPS. It is the federal program similar to Medicaid, except its' recipients make too much money to qualify for Medicaid; again, it is a salary-based program.

Last option: dental schools in the area. The students are supervised, but I don't know if there's one in your area, sorry.

Hope I helped!
