Unafforadable And Fixed price Dental Care?

I dont know if Dentists realize dentistry is basically unaffordable for anything over a first level filling for most people. How come you all can FIX your prices at each dentalofffice and keep the SAME price, when all other consumable goods have to be marketable and competetive.

What makes a dentist job above the laws. Arent you good candidates for RICO violations?

Lower the cost of bonding and repairs and replacements and oral surgery you crooks!

Unafforadable And Fixed price Dental Care?
THey have guide lines they have to follow. Not to mention procedures prices are determined by the Health Insurance you have.
Reply:Yea, but not everyone has insurance, and when you call around ( I did , over 15 dentists) they all charged the EXACT SAME AMOUNT FOR THE PROCEDURE which was well over $1,000 and wouldnt let me make a payment plan.. thats PRICE FIXING. THanks for your comments though! peachsurprize Report It

Reply:The reason all prices are so high and so simliar is because pretty much the only people going to the dentist use health insurance, so they don't care what the prices are. When customers don't care what the prices are, competition never happens and prices never come down.

Also, insurance companies almost always pay less for procedures than individuals would. That's because the doctors negotiate special lower prices for the insurance companies.

Those are the major flaws in our health care system today.
Reply:Dental prices are not fixed and they are subject to change. A dentist has to pay lab bills for the crowns, dentures etc. that are not made in the office. They have to pay for the filling materials they use, impression material, anesthetics etc. They also have the cost of keeping their offices and equipment up to date and paying their employees.

The fees that dentists charge can vary greatly depending on the area that you live in. Larger cities usually have higher prices. Unfortunately everything cost money and it just keeps going up. I think its outrageous for the hospital to charge $10 - $20 for one Advil!!! What's their excuse??? A whole bottle costs less.

If you have dental insurance and your insurance doesn't pay very much toward your procedures then you need to take that up with your employer. Your employer selects the type of coverage that the insurance company pays.
Reply:Yes, dentistry is very expensive. However, most people do not realize the actual prices of items used in the dental office. That little syringe of filling material is $100 per syringe and the bond used to glue the filling in is $100 a bottle which is 0.5oz. The disinfectant to clean the rooms after each patient $100 a case. Add to all that patient napkins, cotton rolls, topical, anesthetic, ETC. The real crooks are the companies selling these products to the dental office.
