Questions concerning dental care?

My ex-spouse and I are not in good terms at all. I submitted our children dental care cost to my ex-spouse Great West dental insurance as it has to go by her insurance before mine. This was sent June 05 and the cheque was issued to her on June 08. I have sent her a letter to that effect by registered mail but she did not pick it up. I have sent her the letter by e-mail also. She has not responded to me nor send me the money issued to her. This money is mine since I paid for the dental bill. ($250.00). The cheque issued to her was in the amount of $196.85. How do I go about to get my money back.

Questions concerning dental care?
There might not be much you can do in this case unless you involve your lawyer, which will cost you more than the dental bill.

In the future, make sure the dental office submits the claim with the "assignment of benefits" box checked. That way, the payment will come to the dental office and they will be far more likely to issue a refund to you.

Also, if there is dual insurance (and I can't believe I'm saying this), ask your dentist if they can wait for payment until both plans have paid. This family situation is a nightmare for the dental office who sometimes gets stuck in the struggle between estranged parents.
Reply:Can you put a stop payment (through the bank) on the check? That will have a fee, but should work.
